Title: New SL render (First try at gun fire)

Very nice! I say again about the resolution, but it's very nice apart from that, and theres definitely a lot more going on than before... the background is good to- not to much to draw the eye away from the action   (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

You need to work on the planets a bit though (it looks "wrong" I just dont know how)

Yea the planet came out a bit lop sided when I moved it around  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/frown.gif)

For the rez I'll have to resize it,..TS2 is only giving me like 3 render res to choose,..big or small. But only takes a moment in PS4 to resize  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

TS sucks for rendering anyway. I just wish I could get textured FS models into Blender.

And if you make them so big, would you at least try to fill up the space a bit more. It looks wasted at the moment.

They will be soon.

A few SL ships are simply too high to attempt. Like the Tempest,..razor thin dual cockpit fighter,..dual twin turrets..one front one back...would make a great strike bomber..1600 polys  lol.

But luckily SL has roughly 4 different models per player craft (alliance fighters), so I'm checking them all first before I continue with converting the next one. But the fighters here in the foreground are my next conversion, I found a rough 600 poly version of it.

This planet has no atmosphere. But beside that it's a great pic. This corvette surely won't last very long, a single Jackhammer missile and they are gone  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

I didn't think the SL models were so huge.  How the hell did they get it to run so nicely on all my different computers?

Less ships/mission that FS?  Perhaps a more optimized engine, as well.....

nah...

FS2 & StarLancer have nigh-on identical specs (on the box) & i have the bare minimum

I can run FS2 on high detail with only slight slowdown when lots of ships are on screen...

My PC had trouble with the StarLancer demo & that asteroid base thing, even with every ramped right down!

It should run ok, it used to run ok when I had 64Mb of RAM and a Voodoo2 on my machine ages ago.

Shrike had a point actually- ever notice how the Starlancer enemies came in in wings that only arrived after you'd taken out a certain amount of fighters or a capship... ...and the only times when all the enemies in a mision were all present- they were all spread over a massive distance...could this have been to keep the speed up?

It's like WC5, I used to get all the kills in that as well... FS2 was the only game where you didn't get the score for every bad guy in a mission.

You need to do something about the gun fire. It looks like you drew cylinders and rendered.
