That's not from the trailer. The basic ship design is from FreeSpace 2. What you actually see in the trailer are the Media VP high-poly versions of the originals. All the trailer did was put it together in one smooth shot of awesome.

If you mean the fact that it uses a Herc2 in the Apollo's role, well...

1) Whatever. Not like the rest of the cutscene was consistent with the FS1 intro
2) Make us a high-poly Apollo and we'll use it. The original model kinda sucks because it's basically the original + cockpit.

Yeah, that's the Herc II, and I'll agree it is a pretty ugly potato-looking fighter

Okay, so maybe the Herc2 wasn't the prettiest fighter to open with, but people are gonna recognize it sure as hell and that's the point.

Huh. I don't think I've ever met anyone that prefers the retail Herc II model. What exactly don't you like about it? Or do you mean as opposed to the Apollo, the ship that was in the FS1 intro cutscene, which is what the voice clip was cut from?

I suppose it's not the biggest change in quality that could've been shown between Retail and the MVPs, but I like the Herc II design.  It's like a bumblebee.

Ok, flip the Herc II upside down, now it looks like two potatoes connected to a chicken neck with a knife sticking out. Doesn't look good enough to put on a plate and eat, though.

Agreed, I think the Herc II is ugly. There aren't many other options though, since the rest of the trailer only uses FS2 ships.

I like the Herc II. It's one of the classic FS2 ship designs. The Media VP does change the look a bit, whether or not it's good is up to the individual.

You know after the recent discussion on discouraging people you thing there would be a little more tact in stating exactly what isn't liked and why.  Yea it's not the FS1 trailer or the FS2 trailer but it's a damn good trailer.  Criticizing the ship it one thing, telling the artist that the design isn't good is a whole other story and likely to discourage further awesome work. 

So can it and think before you post.

Herc II is uggo (always has been, and IMO the MVP version does nothing to improve it), but the trailer is awesome.
