Title: Mod.ini for Destiny Of Peace
Post by: Drake_Tungsten on September 28, 2010, 10:06:37 pm
I've downloaded Destiny of Peace and it did not include a mod.ini file. I assume that I should create one with the multimod section pointing to fsport and mediavps. Am I right and which mods should go in the primarylist line and which mods should go in the secondarylist line?

IIRC, primary should be Destiny of Peace, and secondary should be fsport_mediavps and either mediavps or mediavps_3612, depending on whether DoP is compatible with the newer mvps.

I should think that it would be compatible with the 3.6.12 VPs, since I don't believe it uses any content that would conflict with them, but don't quote me on that.

In short,

Code: [Select]
[multimod]
secondarylist = fsport-mediavps,fsport,mediavps_3612;
is prettier, but might not work.

Code: [Select]
[multimod]
secondarylist = fsport;
is uglier, but will work.

IIRC, primary should be Destiny of Peace, and secondary should be fsport_mediavps and either mediavps or mediavps_3612

You've alreade selected \destinyofpeace\ as an active mod via the Launcher. Why, with the power of the Death Star, do you want to tell FSO to use \destinyofpeace\ as a mod folder for a second time?

Why do you say that the first example might not work? I don't see anything on the page you linked to that says anything about unpredictable behavior.

If I used your first example, would I know right away that it wasn't going to work, or is "not working" something might manifest later in the campaign?

Because

It is possible that it works, but there were some changed introduced with the 3.6.12 MediaVPs and therefore some mods (relying wholly or partially on the MediaVPs) might experience some problems/strange behaviour with the 3.6.12 MediaVPs.

You are more than welcome to try and see what happens.
