Just something I put together to test my rendered beams. That JPEG quality is horrible for the beams, and I may put the .tga file up. It looks much better. Sorry about the planet. Couldn't find a better map. Anyone know any good, high-res planet maps?

Egads man! Nice work. I particularly like that near Starfury, it has so much detail (I'm checking out the red glow INSIDE the cockpit - nice).

The beams... yeh. I'd like to see the TGA.  

As for planets - as you're rendering them, I'm not sure what to do, but if you get Lunarcell from Flaming Pear, you can generate realistic planets in Photoshop or any other equivalent (PSP, PP, PI, etc.). Then you can either map that to a sphere, or put it in the background. Your choice.

I like the Star Fury man! Especially the one in front. Nice glow inside the cockpit. Very detailed too.

Its a automated due to the lack of pilots available. They asked me to do the programming for them and I did. Its based on the FreeSpace ai.tbl file.

Starfury, Narn cruiser - Mark Kane, converted to .blend by A2597 of B5Blender
Background - Me with Glitterato  
Composition, beams, engine glows - me with Blender.

The .tga file is pretty big, I'll upload it in a few minutes. I'll post the address in a few minutes.

Learn how to use it? It's just a file format, personally I would prefer PNG (because it is more versatile and can be viewed by quite a few browsers), but in terms of size all the bitmaps are the same. Huge.  

Unfortunately, I can't tell much of a difference between the jpeg and the tga. D'oh!

The beam is a lot sharper in the tga. It's just that Blender uses tga as a standard, and so, makes them look pretty good.

I've already fixed the planet, any other complaints?

This is my first try at rendered beams, and Blender isn't quite as good as 3DS or Lightwave.

You're right, I wasn't paying attention to that.

If you'd like I can work with the tga and make those beams look like FS2 beams - I do all of my work on the picture. Keep in mind it would look like a Shivan beam, which may be wrong for the B5 universe, but I can still do it.
