UUugh, I'm so confused now.
Alright, I played two inferno mods.
The first was the very first inferno mod to be released. It culminated in an epic battle of the GTVA fleet against the Nemesis. The battle ended in a truce because something to do with Shivans.
The second mod I played Ended in a giant Shivan fork shaped super-juggernaut blasting through a node blockade.
Which two INF mods have I played, and are there any more that have been released that I have not played? I saw a screenie in "A celebration of Freespace" that I did not recognize, and someone said it was from an Inferno mod.
I've been with you guys since the first release, but its branched so far since then and all the info is so out of date, its very confusing.
-
?
The two Inferno mods you described are two parts of the first Inferno campaign released with INFR1.
You don't have Inferno: Alliance, a FS1 style Inferno mod. You may DL it from FSMods.
There are many Inferno campaigns/mods now in progress - INFA1(a remake of INFA which is getting close to a release), INFA2(sequel to INFA1) and INF SCP(intended to replace the old INFR1).
The only one that is going to be released anytime soon is INFA1. The others will take a while... :D

If there were Ancients involved, it wasn't an INF campaign at all, just a mod based on Inferno, Solar Wars. Which was a ****ed up buggy mess anyway.

The second one could be Solar Wars.

Uhh, correction.
INFA has already been released.
What is in the works is INFASA, and INFA2.
INFASA is an overhaul of INFA. For clarity's sake, please call it INFASA and not INFA1 as INFA1 can be mistaken with INFA.
This is really confusing, I know... :blah:
INFR1 = The one with the Nemesis vs. GTVA. Released.
INFA = Short for Inferno: Alliance, FS1-like campaign, already released.
INFASA = Sometimes called INFA1, stands for Inferno Alliance Standalone. Revamp of INFA. NOT released.
INFA2 = Short for Inferno Alliance 2. It's basically a sequel to INFASA. NOT released.
Sol: A History = FS1-like campaign, but with the Nemesis and other EA ships. Technically not an INF campaign, made by an INF fan.
Solar Wars = Campaign based in INFR1 but seriously manked up.

Uhm, people should definitely check the Wiki.
-
Just post the continuity tree that I recall was somewhere in a sticky and end the confusion once and for all.
-
Alright I've just played INFA.... And I'm sorry say that S:AH just blows this out of the water..... Don't get me wrong, it was a good campaign, but S:AH really moved me like very few campaigns can. Unless you got something really good planned for the remake, It may be a good idea to just use S:AH as INF canon.
-
The upcoming INFA campaign is intended to contend with S:AH so don't worry... ;)
-
In terms of atmosphere and (to some extent), I'd have to say that INFASA won't be really on par with some of the chapters of S:AH. Mod-wise, mission design wise and in terms of general quality, INFASA will be considerably more advanced than S:AH.
What you really gotta look out for, though, is INFA2. We got a lot of badass stuff planned for that. ;7
-
Well, the actual INFA campaign isn't enough to cover the storyline of S:AH since there's no EA on it.
INFA and INFA2, combined, should definitely be a worth opponent for S:AH. :)
-
If INFA2 goes to plan it will be one helluva campaign.
-
We'llneed more FREDders to get it done, though.

We'llneed more FREDders to get it done, though.
Well, duh.
-
It's true...
-
Thus, duh.
-
That's not impossible. I mean, getting more FREDders isn't like proving God's existance.

Uh, what?
I said "Duh" as in "Yes, I do agree that we will be in need of more FREDders when the time comes to make INFA2."
This has nothing to do with a flying spaghetti monster.
-
Oh, right... :)
-
Second campaign?
Gah, Last mission i saw was with the TSJ Icanus, was there another load after that?
-
Oh crap, Colonel, did you play my unfinished mission?
-
I think the TSJ blew the big mean shivan super up, then another jumped in. If i recall, it's been years since i played Inf Vanilla, SCP version died on me months back.
-
Oh, okay, that's not mine then. :D
I think I still have my mission about the Icanus, but it's far from complete.
-
I really feel it is necessary to revive this thread. I would advise an updated status, because noone has looked at this entire section of the forums for what seems like more than a month. Just making a suggestion.
-
OH **** A NECRO.
/me fires his SABeam.

In future, don't go about bumping old threads like this. Start a new one.
You may also want to check these links:
http://www.moddb.com/games/infscp/
http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,57726.msg1164649.html#msg1164649
The first one is INFSCP's page on ModDB, which has some fairly new images.
The second one is a tree listing down all the different versions of Inferno.

i get royally confused trying to download Inferno(any release) is there a unified download somewhere?
-
You will need the main Inferno files here:
http://www.fileplanet.com/127705/120000/fileinfo/Inferno-Release-1 (http://www.fileplanet.com/127705/120000/fileinfo/Inferno-Release-1)
And the SCP patch here:
http://www.fileplanet.com/hosteddl.aspx?/3dactionplanet/hlp/hosted/inferno/infr1scpv10.exe (http://www.fileplanet.com/hosteddl.aspx?/3dactionplanet/hlp/hosted/inferno/infr1scpv10.exe)
You will need a Fileplanet account to download the patch, but an account is free, so it isn't a problem.

Because there are legitimate reasons to resurrect a thread that hasn't been posted in for some time. For instance, if someone finally gets around to playing a certain campaign months after it's released and wants to comment on it, I see no reason why they shouldn't do so in the original release thread, no matter for how long it's been dead. Honestly, what really annoys myself and (I suspect) other mods/admins isn't so much the act of reviving the thread...it's the people who make a huge stink out of the revival of said thread. :p

-
Yes, I see nothing wrong with reviving a thread. I also see no point in keeping every ancient thread in existance instead of deleting some. Some are not necessary to keep.
Who decides what's worth keeping and what isn't though?
Sides most people don't mind thread bumping. It's just AE that's always jumping in, complaining and posting his graphic (in my experience anyway).
-
So inf:r1 is on my hard drive now (thanks for the help) and i *think*i have infa (downloading it from freespacemods.net right now) and that is all that is released as of this moment, correct? :pimp:
-
Yes, that's everything.
