well, for some OBSCURE reason, its been saved as a GIF!!!

if you really dont wanna fall into Lord Photoshop's Filter trap, do beams my way...

build the beam out of progressive lightening colours of the same set (red, yellow, green, blue or other), then use select the entire beam & run PSP's smooth thingy on it...  doesn't look TOO great upclose, but it worked for these...

You could also lay down a basic straight line and then hand-airbrush the rest - turned out quite nice for this one.

Personally - I dont use any filters for beams (except the beam glow) I just use Photoshops custom brushes and make some long thin ones, and then work in the same maner as I do all my lasers with....I think it works well...
