Just posted the story trailer. :)
-
 Awesome!
-
GTD Intrepid... A tribute to Wing Commander IV ?
-
The Intrepid is a canon ship, mentioned in FS2 and maybe even FS1
-
The Intrepid appears in-game only if the player exceeds the time limit in Silence All Voices.
It explains why I didn't remember it. I should play Silent Threat : Reborn again...
-
Yeah, the Intrepid and Admiral Po are based on canon mentions and a singular appearance in ST:R. I wanted a canon ship that didn't have too much known about it so that I had freedom to write what I wanted.
-
very nice trailers; they're certainly building my excitement to play BtA
-
Gameplay Trailer!
-
hype levels reaching critical mass
-
Everything superb except that font
-
Awesome awesome and more awesome.
one thing, the HUD circle seems to be distorted, a lot.
when I played the demo I noticed this as well, I have a 1920 x 1080 resolution so I play with a .tbm with $Scale gauges set to true in all MediaVP mods.
adding a .tbm with "$Scale Gauges - True" to the demo, well, causes odd things to happen.
-
Yeah, I noticed the HUD issues recently. It's something I'll be fixing before release... It's just not top priority over mission bugs and finish some of the other things on the todo list. The nice thing is that whenever I play the mod and test things.. the issue is staring right back at me. I can't forget it!

Ahhha. well, as long as you're working on It!
-
Cool eyecandy! :D
-
Looking great :)
-
Can't wait to play this  !
-
That looked dope. :yes2:

Wow, but the trailers look like the view of computer games from the late 1990s to the early 2000s, due to the camera movements. The question is: how to make them look like modern movie trailers of this generation? We have PBR/HDR added, and now we want to make it more movie-like. Can this be achieved via Lua scripting?
EDIT: I've forgot to mention about motion blurs and depth of fields.
-
To expand on my constructive criticism of the only thing that bothered me in all this awesome content, the font makes me feel like I'm about to upgrade my Between the Ashes to Slaves of Chaos 2.3 Enterprise Edition (Full)
-
Oh come on you're just an Arial hater. Seriously, it's a bold font!
-
Honestly, I made this trailer in less than an hour because I wanted to build a little hype without getting distracted from the actual work that remains. If I had done more than think "I need the name at the end like I've done before", them i would have even chosen a font.
But now that you've pointed it out, it bothers me too! Cannot unsee. :P
-
Regarding the "lack of modernity of it", you can always add horn sounds. Huge out of this world horn sounds.
In a world.... HOOOORN
... where piracy is rampant.... HOOOORN
... and people have been destituted from peer to peer connections.... HOOOORN
... you know the drill. Add lots of lens flares, color corrections, irrational and irregular camera swipes, meaningless slow-mo shots and a huge badass music crescendo with a horrible scene with black screens flashing synced (with the music), and with an apocalyptic reveal at the end.
If that ain' modern enough, then I don't know what will be.
-
Just ignore me, the font hardly matters.
-
Luis:
That's just an Abrams/Inception trailer mashup.
I don't think our game trailers need to be more modern. Especially when they are "gameplay" trailers. Cause then we start misrepresenting what playing it will be like. (See: All modern game trailers set to some rock music that's not even in the game.)
My rule for this trailer was that everything had to come straight from the mod itself, and more specifically, aside from the music... the dialog and what you see should be the same moment in the game. So I went in and turned the music off in FSO and cherry picked scenes that showed some fighting (but not a lot because we all know what fighting in FSO looks like by now) and some specific gameplay elements we worked on. I also picked out a few spots with lines I really wanted in the trailer. Then I cut it together with music from the mod. The only exception I made was the first scene which uses briefing audio overlayed over an introductory cutscene. Even then, it's barely an exception. Other than editing and adding a few logos, I did no post production on this trailer.
Battuta: I value you feedback!
EDIT: If want a more movie like trailer, watch the Story Trailer or Teaser Trailer.
-
Hey I was being sarcastic, I think your trailer is just great with that bold Arial and all! The purpose of it was to hype people, well I'm hyped that's efficiency 101!
-
The writing is really good and makes me excited to play it.
-
These are excellent trailers it has to be said; felt you've used the FSO features really well for your in-game scenes and really like how you've used the shots of the Arcadia and Intrepid arrival. Quite like how you've worked elements of the FS1 canon into it too (like the planet being called Gulnara and the Intrepid with Po).
Also notice your trailers use a ton of gameplay footage (HUDs and all) as opposed to filling it with lots of out-of-game cut scenes (something IMO the vast majority of so-called game trailers do). Extra kudos from me therefore for actually selling your game with parts of your game .
Hats off to you and the team; shall be looking quite forward to this :).

I think you should be more professional on this, with all the camera movements from modern trailers of another games, as well as cinematic post-processing effects.

Okay, Bryan, a couple small things. When it comes to CG videos, there is probably noone more professional on this board than mjn. He does this sort of thing for a living, and as such, you should consider that the way in which he is presenting his project is exactly what he wants. Telling him, of all people, to be "more professional" is insulting. That you equate "professional" with a certain style of cinematography speaks volumes about your ability to correctly judge these matters (as in, you do not have any). Making BTA look like a "modern game" when it in many very deliberate ways isn't would be false advertising. Simple as that.
-
I think its cool. :)

That's why i ****ing love you guys. Like I do everyone who's sincere with me.
-
But this requires more realism. Realism means more camera work, more post-processing effects, more modern miscellaneous cinematic elements (e.g. bullet time/Matrix-style sequences).
-
No, it does not.
Also? Realism and miscellaneous modern cinematic elements like bullet time really do not mix (Not to mention that bullet time has fallen into disfavour after about 2001. You're not really familiar with modern cinematography, are you)
-
In a mod like this one. I'm not at all concerned with excessive realism... Especially in trailers. ☺️
BtA is colorful, sometimes silly, and often bends realism for the sake of the mission. If the mission gameplay is not fun, then the whole mod is worse off. The trailer was to display the mod as-is. It was not for trying to spice it up into gritty, grey, Snyder realism, because no thanks.
-
And what are the music tracks used in the trailers? I'm curious to know.
-
All the music used in the mod was listed as Creative Commons music on NewGrounds or a few other sites. Though YouTube seems to disagree with me about the audio in the Teaser Trailer.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'm at work and can't tell you the track names.. but when the mod comes out, it should be pretty easy to match up the music filenames with a website location using the credits.tbl.
-
Final trailer posted above! Threeeee days.
-
Looks so good. :) And your timing couldn't be better - just about to finish a major uni assignment, going to have some free time just as it releases. :D
-
Those warheads @ 0:45
:jaw:
-
Anybody know what the music is for the intro cutscenes? I started manually going through the credits tbm, got like ten songs in and gave up because its a huge list. If anyone happens to know then that would be appreciated.

Very good! BtA is definitely a favorite of mine. Will this next chapter have voice acting like the first?
-
Trailer somehow flew under my radar. Very interesting.

That is our goal, so it most likely will! :)
