Hello,

I'm playing TBP on a Mac (therefore as a mod, unless I've tragically misunderstood the whole thing), using the latest Inferno nightly build, and I'm experiencing the same problem : the game hangs while loading "Slipping the noose", and I get the same error message mentioning EnginesScorched, even though I downloaded Zathras and entered -mod Zathras into the launcher's drawer. Reverting back to the official FS2_Open 3.6.12 (Inferno) does not solve the problem. What am I doing wrong ?

Then how do I go about launching it on my Mac ? There's no application per se in the TBP folder... And everything was working flawlessly so far...

you
- install TBP somewhere (not inside your FS2 directory!)
- you grab a copy of the latest recommended FSO build for your OS (or a nightly, if you're feeling adventurous)
- you place that build to your TBP root directory and then run it, with the proper command-line flags.

The term "mod" can have different meanings. In a way, TBP is a mod, because some people created assets so that you could use the FSO game engine, yet would see and hear B5 stuff. But TBP is a separate game. You don't need to plug it into an existing game installation. You keep it separate, and use the FSO game engine with it (a separate copy of the game engine: please, do not try to run the build you have in your FS2 directory).

TBP has some of its own mods, most notably Zathras.

Got it! Thanks JeffVader, you've finally made clear to me what I couldn't figure out from the initial post of this thread.
I've made a copy of FS2_Open (3.6.12 and the latest nightly, which fixed a couple of bugs for me) and the launcher into the TBP folder, and now the mission loads. What's more, the progress I'd made through the game in spite of my faulty installation wasn't lost, so hurray!
