I require assistance with BEX errors.
I know what BEX is: it's Buffer Overflow Exception. I know it's thrown up when Data Execution Prevention is triggered, or at least that's what StackHash_2264 leads me to believe.

So I've had Mechwarrior 4 installed and working rather splendidly on my HDD. Ran without problems straight from install. I bought a solid state drive, installed all the essentials, then installed Mechwarrior 4 later. "Mechwarrior IV has stopped responding" almost immediately. Error below:

DEP is disabled via command line, and it doesn't even work by running in exception. I don't understand why this is still occurring. I'm at a complete loss. Anybody have the faintest idea of what's going on?

[EDIT] Could hardware-based DEP be the cause?

To consider the Earth as the only populated world in infinite space is as absurd as to assert that in an entire field of millet, only one grain will grow. - Metrodorus of Chios
I wept. Mysterious forces beyond my ken had reached into my beautiful mission and energized its pilots with inhuman bomb-firing abilities. I could only imagine the GTVA warriors giving a mighty KIAAIIIIIII shout as they worked their triggers, their biceps bulging with sinew after years of Ivan Drago-esque steroid therapy and weight training. - General Battuta

Re: I require assistance with BEX errors.
Would this be better suited for Gaming Discussion?

EDIT: Moved.

Maybe, but Google searches have shown that others have this type of problem in applications other than games, hence the posting in General. There's even a hit from Google showing someone with the exact same issue as I am: StackHask_2264 (BEX) with DEP completely disabled, both hardware and in Windows. So it makes no goddamn sense.
