Since I have a WIP campaign about the Hammer of Light(Malleus Splendens), I want to discuss about its fleet. The HoL, as far as I know, is a "behind the lines" rebellion, unlike the NTF. In Operation Templar GTA-PVE and HoL fight each other in multiple systems, so there's no "frontline". But what can the HoL rely on? It must have a very limited number of warships and fighters and only a few shipyards(like the one where the Thoth is produced), and grows up only thanks to continuous defections and the support of regular PVE forces who are planning to defect to the HoL or simply want to give their help.
I actually think that the HoL has:
2-4 Destroyers
10-20 Cruisers
300-700 Fighter/bomber wings
2-5 Space Installations
Less than the 50% of the NTF fleet, which is known to have about 10 destroyers.
What do you think?
-
I'd agree with that, give or take. Oh and, on a side note, where can I get the single-player version of Operation Templar?

With FreeSpace 2...
-
Where? It is not included as a campaign.
-
C'est une multiplayeur campaign.
Oh, and BTW, there are 5 Typhons, I forgot the HLD Tanis

someone rewrote it to solo play
-

Oh. That's INFA, so I should also consider some Bastet destroyers. This is going to rise the number of HoL destroyers...and double it...
-
The HLD Cherti is one.
-
Well, at this point, the HoL would be a much stronger opponent...
-
Oh, don't forget the 4k._TeH. :P
-
Oh, don't forget the 4k._TeH. :P
It was constructed by the HoL. A superdestroyer. At this point, the HoL is much better than the NTF...they could only come out with the Iceni... :hopping:
-
You're forgetting that on FS1 it was the HoL that took out the bulk of the PVN forces guarding Vasuda Prime, so its unlikely that they only had that, if they managed to take that out, they must've been stronger.
And IIRC on Operation Templar you're fighting only what remains of them.

That's something I didn't take in consideration, thanks :)

Yeah, four missions aren't enough to take out the HoL :)
-
There are probably like fifteen more HoL destroyers in multiplayer missions too, you know. :doubt:

They came up with the Iceni because it was all that they needed to get to GD. Why waste time in building an SD when you don't really need it?
EDIT: And hwere can I get Operation Templar single player?

Here you go (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,43557.0.html)! :D

You don't really need it? You don't need a superdestroyer? They can take out most ships in circulation...furthermore, the damage they can inflict to the Colossus would really disencourage any kind of direct confrontation...
-
The NTF had 18 months.
-
They didn't know how much their rebellion would have lasted at the beginning. A superdestroyer was possible to build, Bosch definitely wanted something smaller...and wanted it ASAP.
-
I had a short campaign about the fall of Polaris at the end of the rebellion, where the GTVI secretly towed away a WIP NTF Hades class destroyer, the NTD Utopia.

The presence of a second Hades is pseudo-canon(since it is only "suggested" by a tech intro), but it doesn't work for a central GTVA system like Polaris. The second Hades must have been produced in a remote system like Ikeya.

It was an NTF destroyer (completely non-canon, I know). Bosch wanted it as his flagship, but it was not completed. The GTVI used a classified and unstable node in Polaris to tow it away where it could be completed (and studied).

Makes sense, but back on topic. Where do you think the Het-ka has been produced?
-
Altair?
-
I'm going to take Altair in consideration(also because of the GVF Thoth's description). Other ideas? Which systems have some kind of HoL presence?
-
Altair, Aldebaran and Deneb, I think.
-
There were some in Alpha Centauri. Is there a map of HoL systems? Where I can find it?
-
It stands to reason they were where there were a lot of Ancient ruins. Those systems are highlighted as having Ancient artifacts on them.
-
But Altair and Aldebaran are two adjacent systems. This makes the HoL a "normal" rebellion.
-
Actually, they have seeds in basically ALL Vasudan systems. Their HQ is in Altair IIRC.
-
back off topic, I don't recall any canon references to a second Hades ?

Go read the Hades tech description. A second Hades is supposed to be under construction. Both me and Snail used this idea.

I now that they have seeds, but in certain systems(without considering Altair and Aldebaran)their presence and/or their influence over the PVE should be higher. But where, exactly?
-
Altair certainly.
-
What is mindbogling to me is how come the GTA allowed the HOl to exist for so long! The HoL might of been strong but they could in no way be a match to the combined might of the GTA and PVE!
-

Altair certainly.
:wtf:

That's why I want to know how big the HoL fleet is supposed to be :)

Shivans, much?
:wtf:
Hey, most Snails can't even read.
-
if you could read, you'd point out that its PVN, not PVE, wouldnt you?
-
PVE = Parliamentary Vasudan Empire, the Vasudan government.
PVN = Parliamentary Vasudan Navy, the Vasudan military.
-
so the might of vasudan politicians would have crushed the HOL?
....
:wakka:
-
How very, very funny. :doubt:

Three cheers for Snail!

When did Operation Templar start? The Typhons were already armed with flak guns, so there must have been a consistent time delay.

Yeah. But maybe the Allies were more concentrated on raping destroying the remaining Shivans than putting down the HoL.

It's not entirely clear whether the former should be PVE or VPE. I think FS1 uses both terms twice throughout the campaign.
-
VPE? Are you sure? It must be a misspelling...something like GTA Monitor.
-

Yeah, but I think it would be PVE, since most of the things are "Adjective Species Government" (GTA, GTVA, PVN)
VPE? Are you sure? It must be a misspelling...something like GTA Monitor.
Yes, they did use both.
-
They used both, but I'm not going to consider "VPE" as something valid. It reminds me "Vape".

Then use PVE! Common sense! :P

This is a very "discover the American continent for the second time" moment. Oh wait, it was Amerigo Vespucci. My name is Francesco. So now call that continent Francesconia! :wakka:
-
Both GTA and PVE and later the GTVA should of adopted a dictatorship tipe regime in times of war or crisis! Or they should form themselfs into some sort of federation or the like where you have supreme lwas for everyone limit the authority of individual sistems yet leave then enough freedom for some choices.
Then put out a very very dedicated almost fanatic tipe of milatary on the sistems so that any relebels are crushed fast and without mercy and perhaps a little torture wont hurt to set an example for future rogues wannabe!
It would of saved GTA/PVE/GTVA a whole world of trouble/money resources nd skilled pilots and crews which could be used to confront the shivans or other threats.
-
why fight the shivans and ally with the vasudans, when your fights going to be easier if you fight the vasudans and ally with the shivans!
geez, command is an idiot.
also, by allying with the vasudans, they doomed all their capital ships to sucking.

Where do these fanatics come from? They grow on trees?! WOW! I'M GOING TO GO GET ONE!

Wow... just wow... That has to be the dumbest thing I've heard all week.
-
Because you can't ally with the Shivans. I mean, the T-V started because of many reasons. One of these reasons is connected to the first attempts of communicating each other. And the Shivans were too powerful. Remember that even detecting them on sensors was difficult!

Hellooo? Vasudans have long memories! They're obsessed with history! What led Hitler to do everything he did? The reason that makes me proud to be Italian? The obsession with history! Every young Vasudan is a potential Hammer of Light operative.
-
you know snail he is akenbosch so......
As for the fanatics.....just grow the little bastards...! Tkae the since they are like 10 or 14 or something like put them in the milatary indoctrinate the hell out of them ....and there you have it one ready to go fanatic......for use in mint condition and with a time guarantee!

That's what happens here, too. Brain washing. The best way to create an army.

I just love brainwashing people.

yeah...about the HLP...errr...HOL fleet...
you could ask trashman for the typon-demon hybrid.
-
you could ask trashman for the typon-demon hybrid.
We already have a HoL special (not superdestroyer technically) destroyer. But another ship could be used, I suppose.
OT:
Damn 30 posts per day?

He doesn't have to ask... I've been repating this for eons...guess I'll have to put this in my siggy in big glowing signs:

Hey, calm down. HC is down so the download is down. The only way we can get it is through you. Or me. Since I have it. :)
