This isn't a bad idea. It would be nice to have a list of what behaviour got someone a gold star rather than having a different thread get derailed over why.

This is bathwater.  Updating a list of people is tedious and takes away from the spontaneity of the badge.  Generally the person who has the Gold Star knows why, and that's really all that's necessary.
