Well at the present time support ships are not available in Diaspora.  When they are, I'll certainly want to integrate this with them.

As most missions in Diaspora are not usually that long, you really shouldn't have a problem with running out of ammo or fuel.  However, it makes it more realistic.  An F-16 can only carry six air to air missiles and enough ammo for a handful of bursts from his cannon.  Limited fuel and ammo brings Diaspora closer to a simulator and further from an arcade style game.
