Reminds me for some reason of Monstrous Regiment when Jackman says that he "has been in a few last stands. They never end well."

I often wonder how combatants feel once the adrenaline and euphoria of victory has died down. Would the see and respect the comradeship of their defeated foes? Would they only feel hatred and dispair at having to kill them. Would they feel scorn that they did not surrender when they had a chance?

As a UEF supporter I hope that this is thematic level is in reference the ending of Delana est Carthage and not the end of act 5

A lot of 2000AD comics dealt with similar issues. They might be hard to find online though as most were written in the 80s
