Title: Star Trek Online player name and handles
Post by: Scourge of Ages on February 27, 2012, 01:34:13 am
Since there's all this talk of fleet building and teaming up, I figured the first step would be to consolidate all of our information in one thread. Once we know who everyone is, and maybe all added to friend lists, we can see when enough people are online at once, and can get the fleet made.

I'll edit this first post when I know your name, and if necessary we can create a poll to decide the leader of the fleet. If you posted in the other thread but you aren't here, please do so again, and if you haven't posted your contact info yet, why not put it up?

Names, addresses, times available:
Me - Scourge@scourgeofages (sporadically, evenings 2200-0000 PST/GMT-8)

Assuming we get a fleet working...has anyone acces to a teamspeak server?
Edit: Added all apart from Starman01, the game says "unknown User".

If we can find a time when most of us are online, it would make this a lot easier, just going with "whenever people get on" usually doesn't work. I'm usually online after 2 p.m. on most days, but i'm only useful (in the loosest possible meaning of the word) until around 12:30 a.m. (CST).

I may be on sporadically, this week.  But I can make most anytime (E.S.T.) on Saturday, afternoon through the evening.

I'm on usually anytime from 1600-0200 EST. Depends on how much soul crushing homework I have.

I'm usually on around 4:30-9/10:00 (GMT-7)
EDIT:  When my internet lets me *grumble*

Enzo03@crazyenzo03
I am usually available weekdays from 4:30 pm to midnight Central US (GMT -6) cept for Wednesday where I will be unavailable until as late as 6:30 pm.
I am completely unavailable on weekends.

This does not necessarily mean I will be playing during all of this time, but rather that I will usually be able to use the computer and access the internet and, if I so choose, play STO.

Strobe@strobe212

Pretty sure that's how it's supposed to be.

I'm on sporadically the whole day, mostly depending on whether I'm asleep or not, or feel like playing at a given hour.  Still a lowly Lt. (8), but slowly getting higher.  Still love me some torpedo boating.

What are we supposed to give, Account name, Display name, Character name... ?
Title: Re: Star Trek Online player name and handles
Post by: LunarNightmare on March 03, 2012, 03:22:42 pm
Just the display name, you can put your character name too, but the display name is what's needed to send a friend request.

For example, i'm LunarNightmare@lunarnightmarexp, @lunarnightmarexp is all that's needed, because that is the handle (display name), LunarNightmare is my character name.

I need to go through and add everyone as well.  Even if we don't have a "real" fleet, we can at least have an impromptu one.  (Besides, I don't talk with anyone from the random fleet I joined anyway.)

Captain Soronarr of the good ship USS Archangel reporting for duty!

Welcome aboard Captain! You can find the standard armament under your seat, and emergency exits all around. Make sure to stay out of the airducts (they're crammed full of evil tribbles who will eat your lunch). Please also post your @handle so that we can add you to friend lists.

As soon as 6 of us ever are online all at once, we should be able to get this fleet thing started.

Does everyone have to be online at that time to make a fleet??! Arent there invites or something?

To be honest, I'm not sure which is the correct name from me  I had to enter several names. On the cryptic account, on the game account, captains name is also different again, not to mention the time it takes before you find a good name that this system accept, it's quite a bit painful  :p

On the other hand, I'm not that fully active anymore. I played the game excessivly (spell ? ) for about 2 weeks, +12 hours a days (yes, I'm a maniac). But now, I'm at level 50, skilled out, and the game does start to bore me a bit. I guess I will play the campaigns (just have the klingons sofar) and then, I don't know. Also I finally found a new job, and a very good one, so my simple life is over too  :p

I will still play the game from time to time, and when I can be a part-time fleet member, that would be great. But if it turns out into "you have to be there, and you MUST use team speak etc", sorry, not really my game. Also, I'm not a friend of PVP. And as soon as Mechwarrior online starts, I'm certainly NOT playing Startrek anymore  :p

So, if you still want, I can try to figure out my correct name.

6 players need to be online simultaneously, and presumably all at the correct area on ESD in order to create a fleet. After that, you can invite remotely (probably), everyone who will be in the fleet doesn't need to be present at the time of creation.

I don't believe it would disband on itself like that. And we almost had enough people online yesterday to make that fleet, but ended up just shy of six characters available and willing. LunarNightmare seems to be on pretty frequently, so he seems like the most likely one to head up the fleet. If anybody notices six characters on your friends list, go ahead and take care of it.

Well, I did add all of you to my friends list...except strobe...sez unknown user whenever I try..so the data on the first page must be incorrect.
So when htere's 6 of us...

Hur..maybe the HLP SOT community player base isn't big enough... If we can't even get 6 ppl together.
I could try to rustle some dependable people from Kerberos forums. Modders & sci-fi loversunite!

We really only need 5 (including myself), because if needed, I can always whip out my useless original account to get that 6th person.

So...tips and tricks from you pros?

Best way to get XP?
Best way to get Dilithium?
Best ways to get loot?
Title: Re: Star Trek Online player name and handles
Post by: Scotty on March 12, 2012, 03:18:35 am
XP: I find myself ranking up more quickly than I can get all the gear I want for my current tier, so if you've got a way to *slow down* I'm all ears.

Dilithium: Duty officer missions, followed by daily lore missions, followed by daily exploration missions, and other dailies that give it to you.

Loot: Either a decent story mission or a fleet action give the best for that, I've found.  Recently replayed Operation Gamma and Boldly They Rode from the new episode like eight or ten times to get all the gear I want.  Mostly Polaron beams.  I've done that ****ing spacewalk five times now, and it doesn't get any shorter.

Best way to get XP?

The Klingon Arc missions, and the other stories that follow it. They tend to go the fastest, and they give decent XP.

Best way to get Dilithium?

Ker'rat Warzone, i'll be able to explain it better in-game. :)

Best ways to get loot?

Ker'rat Warzone or the the missions that Scotty mentioned.

Edited for annoying typos.

Post by: crizza on March 12, 2012, 07:06:05 am
I noticed that the simple "patrol system XY" give you a decent XP boost.
For Dilithium, I would suggest the Warzones, you battle some borgs three time and get 1k dilithium and if you were useful, you get some decent loot.
Title: Re: Star Trek Online player name and handles
Post by: NGTM-1R on March 12, 2012, 07:32:15 am
System patrols rank you up quickish. Better than that is the Fed Mirror Events that are staged once a day, though, because you can do them over and over. (Though sub l20 you get a lot of scrub groups who can't figure them out.)

Dilithium is available through dailies, STFs, Warzones, and did we mention warzones?

Loot is ultimately ridiculously hit or miss no matter what you do, there's just too much variety that could drop, and if you want to outfit your ship with a unitary battery and modules that fit your rank and weren't stuffed in to fill a slot, prepare to explore your ass off and craft stuff to do so.

There's always the exchange, trade energy credits for weapons, consoles, and other items. I sure as hell didn't find my weapons for my Admiral in a mission. :)

The Crystalline Entity is literally the most powerful space-based opponent in the game. Harder than any of the STFs, the ISS Stadi, anything. Failure is pretty much the norm there.

That's because when it gets down to 33% it releases "large crystal shards" which regenerate it if you destroy them, people choose to ignore this fact...  Someone said kinetic weapons regenerate it too.

HARD LIGHT IRREGULARS

Wit hthat said - whoever is hte main crafter: our fleet bank is well stocked wiht crafting materials. It might be a good time to start crafting items.

Frankly, I think batteries are the most usefull, since you can't buy them at the exhange.

I sure as hell do.  Personally, I'd vote for weapons and consoles we can use to help out the people in the fleet that aren't of a level to go Borg hunting yet.

I could use several high level anti-proton beam arrays.

Oh, and does anyone know how much it costs to add a repository in the fleet bank?  We may want to consider doing that.

The second repository for the fleet bank costs 1,223,000 ECs.  I've already personally contributed 800,000 toward that, but we need a couple hundred thousand more to get to it. :P

200k is about all my money.  I'll throw 100k into the Fleet Bank.
Title: Re: Star Trek Online player name and handles
Post by: Scourge of Ages on April 12, 2012, 03:13:43 pm
As soon as I can get in the fleet, I'll throw in a few hundred k.

Also, you can get every type of standard (not large) battery for 200ec at any ship requisition station that sells consumables. And you can get engine and auxiliary batteries for 40~100ec each on the exchange.

As to crafting, I would recommend checking the exchange for the high tier weapon/thing you want versus how many uncommon unreplecatable materials it costs. I found while leveling that the cost of materials sometimes ended up being higher than the cost of just buying the Mk XI Very Rare weapons.
