Title: Steam Link (play your PC thru your TV) on sale 70% off (14.99)
Post by: jr2 on September 01, 2017, 06:34:31 am
Steam Link page (http://store.steampowered.com/app/353380) on the Steam Store.  $14.99 is IMHO a great price, so if you've been considering, now's the time to nab it (or a second one if you think you could use it).

The Steam Controller (http://store.steampowered.com/app/353370) is on sale for a less exciting 30% off (34.99)

Note that all the Link does is route your PC's audio and video to an HDMI out over your home wifi or ethernet, and send your KB / Mouse / controller inputs to the PC the same way.  It's not a portable PC (although maybe it could be jailbroken, haven't really checked that).

I just use hdmi output to my TV.

I can appreciate the usefulness if your pc is in a different room though.

I have one.

It's really good for:
Streaming video and other stuff from your PC to your TV that doesn't work with Chromecast or your TV streaming thing of choice. Like some web players, or your music app.
Playing Steam games on a bigger screen, especially couch multiplayer games like Brawlhalla

Not so good for:
Streaming Youtube or other things that work well with Chromecast etc.
Playing Steam games with a lot of detail and action, like NieR: Autotomato. There will be brief losses of frames or quality even if you're connected by cable instead of wifi.

The Steam Link honestly seems like a very niche item, which is why it's been on massive sales multiple times now.
