I'm new at this HTML thing but I'm going to try to post some pics, let me know if they show up. Here's some of the ships in my "Starfighter" mod.
The F-44 is the West's newest space-superiority spacecraft. Its sole mission is the destruction of enemy strike-craft. It has almost no anti-shipping capability and must rely on other craft to perform those roles.
The F/A-12 is a highly rugged and versitile craft. Capable of performing either bombing or space superiority missions, only its lackluster performance prevents it from being a perfect multi-role craft.
The A-36 torpedo bomber is a dedicated bombing strike-craft whose only battlefield role is the delivery of high-yeild (and often nuclear) payloads into the hulls of enemy shipping. Although heavily armored and equipped with an articulating turret, these ships are easy prey for chinese interceptors and every effort should be made to keep such craft away from them.
(Sorry, no picture yet...)
The F-56 is the ultimate multi-role strike-craft. Fast enough to perform intercepts and space superiority work and a large enough payload capacity to allow it to act as a bomber when needed. If the F-56 had a weakness it would be its structure, which is extremely lightweight and susceptable to damage.
(sorry, no picture yet...)
The 621 Escort cruiser (CE) is a small, lightweight, and slow ship designed solely to defend other ships from attack with its multitude of automatic cannon turrets and space-defense missile batteries. Lacking any hard-hitting weaponry for anti-shipping work these craft are best used to destroy enemy strike-craft and cruise missiles.
The concept of the VLBI (Very Long Baseline Interferometer) is to use a large number of small radio antennaes spread out over a large distance to gain the resolution only possible with a much larger antennae. The VLBI frigates role is to haul such VLBI sets around to perform long-ranged sensor scans and lend command and EW support to distant battles. poorly defended with only a single cannon turret and a single missile battery, it is well advised to keep enemy craft well away from such ships.
This one is a real favorite with me, I don't know why but they seem to add the same character and life to a mission as other non-combat support craft.
The Chinese type 37 Interceptor is the base model in a long line of similar craft (such as the type 38 and 389 attack fighters and the type 39 space superiority fighter). Built to be as compact as possible to allow thier cruisers to pack them around in quantity, these ships can prove deadly against the bombers they were designed to counter.
Beleive me, the G-20 cannon carried by an A-36 is no real defense against these suckers. Keep'em away from your bomber formations.
(sorry, no picture available...)
The Chinese light guided-missile cruiser (CGL) is the origional scourge of the West (and the reason for the West's predominantly bomber-weighted doctrine). Produced in quantity, the East never seems to be short on vessels to perform any kind of attack. What makes these craft truly deadly isn't thier dual cruise-missile batteries but thier speed. Easily capable of 45-50 MPS these ships are very difficult for Western forces to outmaneuver.
It's really cool to see three or four anti-warship torpedoes slam into one of these things. The multiple shockwaves produce a cool series of secondary explosions as turrets go *pop*.
More to come as I get it done. Sorry none of the models are textured yet. A memeber of the JSKGames staff is supposed to be working on that as I type.
