Heh, I will be insanely jealous to the winner, but I'm a real man and I'll (try to) congratulate him/her. ;)

So first you guys complain that the contest period was too short, and now you complain that the judging period is too long?

Hey, when the results are in, I presume that you'll be starting a new thread. If tha's the case, can you also put a notification in this thread? It saves me from coming to check out the forums every day :)

If the contest period was too short, then the judging period, by nature, also ought to be short, because there would be fewer missions submitted. :ha:

No, that just means the judges are able to give each mission the due time it deserves to fully test it and flush out any bugs :o

I don't think you realise the amount of work required to judge.

If you want to get a handle on it try picking a released stand alone mission and then writing a VWA style review for it. You might be surprised at how long that takes you.

@Akalabeth. I'll make sure I bump the topic when we're done.

Will we only know the winner or there will be runners-up?

From what I've understood the reviews themselves will be made public so everyone who contributed can see what the judges liked and disliked about their missions.

There won't just be a first prize and rasberries for the rest of you though so I'm pretty sure there will be runners up. They might get nothing other than the satisfaction of knowing they were the second best but that's not a bad thing either :)

Indeed.  And the September 1st deadline might have been prematurely optimistic... considering I'll be finishing a degree and getting a job in the next too months, I may have to stretch this out a bit. :nervous:

/me surruptitiously edits the first post

Hm, I've got an idea.  Since each of you had one month to submit your missions, the judging period should be one month per mission submitted. :D

For me? Two-to-two point five hours playing time/FRED examination, fifteen to forty-five minutes for the review. If I want to be super-extra-thorough.

Times the number of submissions...

My english teacher once asked her class how much time we thought she should send on each essay we turned in. The consensus was 'the same amount of time we put into writing it'. So taking an estimate of 3 hours per student, time the 30 kids, the problem became apparent. Its a lot easier to make an entery for a contest than it is to judge all of them.

To make time fly, why don't we all make another mission? :D
