There's always OpenOffice. Really the same thing (I think....)

Oh, I did, then got fustrated by the automatic paragraphing feature, which I had no idea how to turn off. And since Singh used MS Word for his last few chapters, I have to comb through it with a fine toothed comb and pick out the weird symbols and replace them with appropriate punctuations.
