So... I think there might be need for some discussion here.



Is there any point to keep duplicate campaign list pages existing? Should wiki contain mainly the player comments on the campaign and leave rest to campaign list page? Should the wiki pages just basically 'rip' the contents of the campaign list pages?

Or should for example wiki pages concentrate more on some aspects of the campaign.. Like ATM with Derelict, which has campaign specific ship pages and partial walkthrough in there http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/Derelict

Or something else?

I hope it wont be an issue for any one if wiki would use the same tags as campaign list does for marking campaign specific pages - or is going to be?

I'm fine with the way it is now. I'd prefer to not clutter the main page, but rather distribute all information evenly throughout several pages. However I'm not quite sure of what you're trying to say, although it appears that you've already answered your own question with the Derelict template you put in... or not? Need to make yourself a bit clearer.

BTW, superb job on the template, Wanderer, looks sweet.

Granted that the campaign list has several errors in it as well as being a tad outdated (though no more than wiki).

So should wiki just copy the contents from the campaing list? Add links to campaing list pages? Something?

Aha. You're talking about something entirely different.

The campaign list is rather hopeless, it's not in Wiki format- which means we can't update it- and it hasn't been worked on since, oh, 2003. It doesn't have anything particularly valuable with regard to campaign descriptions anyway. So if you think that any campaign list content should be moved onto the wiki, then do so on your own initiative, but I don't see anything valuable there.

Well I probably wont do anything major for this goal as the nearly total lack interest kinda proves that there is no need or interest what so ever for such improvements.



However... We certainly could do such project - and all of us would do that rather swiftly. Lack of interest proves that to be not feasible though

The lack of interest in the wiki list is unjustified. It is the only way newbies can find old releases... I am trying to update it. I cannot understand how you can spend all the time programming a campaign and then be lazy on the 'promotion' side...

I tried the following. I created www.squidoo.com/freespace2.

a. I referred to the freespace wiki for the whole list of campaigns
b. Created the possibility for visitors to vote for their favourite campaigns. I just put in the campaigns I managed to play.

Freespace is great but difficult for a newbie to get hold of it. The wiki list of campaigns is just what a newbie needs to get started.

I only got through mission 5 of that campaign, the stupidity was so overwhelming. Was it supposed to be a parody? Dialogue went something like this:

SJ Sathanas 46: Hi I'm Bosch's Lieutenant, I escaped with a Sathanas.
GTVA Colossus 3: I'm the commander of the GTVA fleet. I'll make you the commander if you'll let us have your Sathanas.
SJ Sathanas 46: Sounds good.

That campaign was deliciously fun if you let all of the inanity wash over you.  I remember in one mission, I found myself dual-Helios-ing a good 15 or so cruisers that were just sitting there in a random formation.  I kid you not.

Ach, you got it all wrong. It was more like:

SJ Sathanas 46: Haha! I am admiral So-and-So. We came here in a cruiser and commandeered this disabled juggernaut. Luckily I had studied the ETAK project before defecting from the NTF.  Then we fixed it and blasted half of the Shivan armada. I shall now take command of these fighter wings. GTCv You-There, you are relieved. Dismissed.

It was almost as fun to notice that the FS2 cutscenes were playing in a completely random order during the campaign. Not to mention the first debriefing: "You eliminated all hostiles wonderfully.  Your engagement with the shivan fighters was wonderful." It's not every day you hear an admiral say things like that.
