Phantom Joystick Interference
I had installed Freespace 2 from the Loki installer Linux CDs and finally got it running after grabbing the *.vp archives gotten via eDonkey (otherwise it would complain about not being able to parse this or that *.tbl file).  Everything more or less worked as it should, except if I enabled mouse flight control I would end up constantly rotating diagonally.  Attempting to change any of the ". . . Axis" keybindings would immediately set it to "Joystick Z Axis."

Does anyone know what the issue might be or where I ought to start looking?
