Post by: Kopachris on August 02, 2011, 11:57:51 pm: I voted for Cetus because I like the way it sounds, though Euryale does make sense. I'm against Medusa Mk. II because the ship doesn't look like an improvement on the Medusa so much as a sister or cousin to the Medusa, and because the "Mk. II" epithet only works if the name is short or can be shortened without assonance (i.e. Herc Mk. II or Herc II, opposed to Medusa Mark II (a mouthful) or Medusa Two).

I doubt anyone will be confused. Trashman's model is an ugly construction brick, while Byron's model is fairly unique and well modeled.

Post by: Zacam on August 04, 2011, 06:37:32 am: Because of the resemblance to the (newer) Medusa bomber, I would see "GTB Euryale" as the name much more fitting than appending a simple "Mk II". And even in Grecian mythology, having two vessels named as Euryale is appropriately fitting, since the other was the daughter of King Minos and mother of Orion.

However, in going with the mythological reference in which Medusa is named, there is also the name of one of Medusa's offspring when her head was severed, which was Chrysaor, which might also be fitting. Granted, it (Chrysaor) was told to be a Golden Sworded Giant (which this isn't, necessarily) but it shows the lineage of inheritance to the Medusa more so than it speaks to me of being a related to Medusa, especially if it's leveraged in a Strike Bomber manner which it's shape seems to suggest is its potential.

Some people showed concern about this bomber being named Stheno because of Esarai's own Stheno.
But this seems to be a different matter. I didn't even know the Armageddon was being used in Shadow Genesis, and I'm not sure how many other members outside of the team knows about its use either.
