Re: 3.6.10 Media VPs Discussion Thread
This cubemap (also linked in the third post of the reRelease topic) has the necessary mip-maps and should resolve this issue for anyone having that error (noted by crashing non-debug builds when attempting to view the techroom or F3.)
Yeah, that fix is how I noticed that it exists. But I just wonder what it's purpose is? It doesn't seem to appear in-game anywhere.

.....

What do you think reflects on cockpit glass in the Techroom or F3? The cubemap, that's what.

Re: 3.6.10 Media VPs Discussion Thread
Hey will you guys get around to fixing the support ship engine glows, and after rearming having them say "your good to go" or something like that. I remember it in retail but they don't say it anymore

Re: 3.6.10 Media VPs Discussion Thread
Uh, that is an SCP code problem. Not a MediaVP problem. And both of those are fixed.

Any nightly build that states post SVN Revision 5616 will fix the missing Support ship messages.

Any nightly build since 5516 has fixed support ship thruster glows.

Have these been validated yet? It is still giving me the hacked table error upon using these in multi.

Re: 3.6.10 Media VPs Discussion Thread
Hey Zacam....does the "3610_Patch" simply go into the mediavps directory?
Also, the CubeMap...I use env map, and I have never gotten any problems.... do you recommend placing it in or just forget it 'cause I get no problems???
I apologize if answered earlier (please point!!!)...I'm just too tired to go through 45 pages!

Yes, the patch goes into your mediavps directory. Just like it said in the post that has the download link for the patch. And if you don't have problems when going into the techroom, you don't need the cubemap.

Re: 3.6.10 Media VPs Discussion Thread
I'm not sure where to report this, but I've noticed a few things in the single player... first, the Bastion destruction cutscene did not play (now that I think about it, neither did one of the Bosch cutscenes, the one where he's making a long letter), second, I've noticed quite a bit of missing pilot text (supply ships, some Vasudans, sometimes Command will respond to someone who didn't say anything-(2nd Knossos ring) ), and third, after Capella goes supernova, whether you jump out in time or not, neither cutscene plays, and neither is available in the Tech Room (it kicks you back to the "main menu"), and when you go back to the briefing, it starts you out with the "Incoming Transmission" screen, and you end up redoing that final mission.

I'd just like to say I LOVE the improved visuals, they make this game look SO much newer looking and more appealing.  Wonderful work here!

Re: 3.6.10 Media VPs Discussion Thread
In your main FreeSpace2 folder (where the launcher, the game EXEs and all mod folders are located), there should be a file called "FS2OGGCutscenepack.vp" . It contains all the FS2 cutscenes. I don't remember where you can download it though...

Re: 3.6.10 Media VPs Discussion Thread
The installer installs it. Alternatively, there's a manual download here: http://www.freespacemods.net/download.php?view.128

Just put all the .ogg files in the base FS2 dir.

Re: 3.6.10 Media VPs Discussion Thread
I installed the FSO exe and launcher stuff over a clean retail install of FS2 from my CDs.  Do I actually need to download the cutscene .ogg's separately?

Re: 3.6.10 Media VPs Discussion Thread
I'm having a small problem that is apparently caused by the 3.6.10 MVPs (Since I can play FS2 without using them)

Whenever I start a mod that uses the MVPs or FS2 using the MVPs, when I start a mission I either automatically CTD or CTD after just a few seconds. Likewise, when in the techroom and I change to another ship, I crash, or when changing loadouts/weapons and I change to a different ship type or another menu - boom, crash.

I have an ATI X1950 Pro with the latest vista drivers, and Windows 7 Ultimate.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I really want to play with the amazing graphical updates

Open Launcher.exe, in Features-tab unselect specular, glowmaps and environmental maps. Apply and run. Should work now. ATI X1k series have problems with these enabled.

Woops, shoulda noticed that. It worked with it before, but I'll give it a try and then report back

Cheers :)

Edit:

Argh, the DLLs - they do nothing!

Unfortunately, they don't appear to have granted succour to my issue.

The DLL's are from Windows XP drivers. They do not work on Windows 7 or Vista.

Furthermore, there are no Catalyst drivers that old available for Vista/Win7, so your only option is to use -no_glsl command line option, or buy a new GPU. :blah:

...or acquire a copy of Windows XP and install it just to play FS2_Open with normal maps. :nervous:

Well, I've got an upgrade in the pipeline, saving what I can (Hard as a student who has to rely on public transport to get to university), and should be able to afford a major overhaul of my system (£1000+ worth) in February. I just hope it solves more problems than it causes. Until then, I'll play with -no_glsl, and without the benefits of the normal maps
