Response to "Rap of the Ancients". Took me about 45 minutes... rapping about something other than guns, cars, chicks and gangs is hard....

A few parts of the last 6 lines were homage to my usual style, I just couldn't go without it. :P

Yeah, it's a ***** to rap verbally though, it's pretty much unintelligible when I try to spit it in time. I'm working on it.

Sound-quality was put-aside in exchange for faster upload time on my ****ty connection :) The damn thing's full of pops and clicks because of the low sound quality, if anyone wants I've got the original which I'll be uploading to my mediafire account, with better sound quality.

Yeah, I was considering doing that. Main issue is I'm not experienced with the lyrics, usually I'll spit a rap about 150-400 times before performing it to get every bit of it down perfect with the beat. It's for that reason I avoid freestyle rapping at all costs because I'm **** at getting it in synch on the spot. I'd only rapped that song about 25-40 times so I really didn't have a feel for it. Beatwise I'll look into though.

I just think you need to say everything slower so it's more intelligible. I also imagined your voice being deeper than that, but I guess there's not much you can do about that. :p

Yeah exactly, bottom line: I don't know the words, which is why I need to rap something 150-400 times until I can say it understandably, so my flow was all over the place trying to fit the words in combined with my shortness of breath, which was especially apparent at the end of verse 1. I agree I probably needed to slow down a bit, that's a problem that plagues most new rappers if you look into it, trying to speak too fast resulting in slurred words and shortness of breath, something you'll find a lot if you go to "Rap Battles/Sessions" or simply youtubing it. Not using it as an excuse, it's an issue I personally suffer from in particular which would probably be rectified in this situation by a slower beat/full knowledge of the sheet. As for voice being deeper, you're right there isn't a lot I can do :P The other MC in my "Rap Crew" has an even higher voice when he raps, although he's a freestyler, meaning he's a helluva lot better at getting his tongue around the words first time around. He isn't free this weekend but if I can be bothered and the whole crew's free I'll convince the DJ I work with to get off his ass and spin a new beat and get the other MC (KamaykarZ, a bastardisation of the word Kamikaze) to do a few lines and get a proper recorded version up.

As someone who's not exactly used to hearing it, what amused me the most about this was hearing you rap in a British accent. Part of me was expecting the next line to be something like, "Now pass me some tea and crumpets, you mother****er Bosch." :p

Yeah, I have a weaker Aussie accent with a hint of English, which sadly I think was a product of playing Call of Duty 4 religiously for a while last year :P

People around here say I have an American accent despite me never having been anywhere vaguely American in my life. This is likely a product of playing too much FreeSpace.
