Title: The Belt of Orion
Post by: David cgc on September 13, 2012, 10:25:38 am
I forgot to mention it after I first saw it (too busy playing the game), but I noticed in the opening cutscene, when the Theseus is fleeing from the two baseships, it's flying directly towards what is unmistakably the constellation Orion. So, I've got to ask; Coincidence, or the most obscure in-joke ever? (http://darthmojo.wordpress.com/2009/03/26/my-god-it-full-of-the-wrong-stars/)

Most obscure in-joke to that blog post ever.

I actually was wanting Lt. Cannonfodder to remove orion from the scene, but *shrug* in joke stayed.

In-game secret, and how to find it:

1) Point your viper's nose just a bit below Orion's belt.
2) Fly straight for 40000 years, and you will reach M42 - the Orion Nebula.

Remember, using time compression to get there in only 10000 years is cheating!

Shut up. I was too lazy to re-render the background :P

I used the same starfield generator they had in the show for the intro. The ingame starfield texture is based on it as well, so yeah, you can't get much more closer to canon in that regard.
