As far as I am aware, we don't have a generic "Interesting stuff on youtube" thread yet. But here it goes:
-
I condone this thread and all who sail in her.
-
Very good video, I even submitted an Italian transaltion for the subtitles, though I wonder when or if it will become visible.
-
One of the best.

commentary on a recent topic.
probably goes against want many would assume was my perspective.
Don't know why that channel doesn't have more subs than it does.

Well... Subject matter is rather niche, the person in question has a voice that I find rather hard on the ears and, well, pointing out that Milo was disingenuous has been done ever since I first became aware of him. Inbetween the many many people who have no idea who this person is, the people who already knew (or were forcibly made known) that he is an asshole and thus avoid him, and the people who love the fact that he is an asshole there's not really much room for someone to point out that he's an asshole and still find an audience. That being said, this should probably go into the trump thread considering Milo's close ties to the republican party and the chief strategic advisor.
-
Also, everybody, those are some really cool videos.
-
well, that channel has more than one video, I'm surprised there are not more subs given the humor and production quality.
as for this vid in particular, I could see your point about putting it in the trump thread, I wasn't expecting a huge diversion on this thread as its just a really good take down of him. I always found him entertaining, but I never found him trustworthy.
-
how about everything on this channel?

Any and all CGPGrey content is recommended viewing imo.

The question that dazzles any European motorsport fan, answered!

Prepare for being red pilled forever. You've all been lied to. Here's the truth of the world:
There are a LOT of weird belief systems out there, but flat-earthers in 2017 have to be one of the most stubbornly bizarre.
-
The truth is always bizarre to the sheeple who fail to recognize it. They all laughed at Galileo too ya know.
-
A little old, but still good. The question has always been where does the person come from.
-
I took the liberty of fixing the youtube link. Remember, the only thing that's supposed to go between the yt tags is the video id.

Thanks I've been trying to fix that for the past ten minutes.

The original footage, before they layered in the CG car and tornado.

Was watching a bunch of runaway diesels. Diesels don't use spark plugs, they ignite fuel by compression. So if you let the engine get worn down to the point that it burns a lot of oil, sometimes it can "run away", or start burning up its own crankcase oil. It is impossible to stop the engine, except by suffocation (two methods I've read: blocking the air intake with something that can't be sucked in, like a board, using a CO2 fire extinguisher, or, you could leave the air filter in place and plug it up with the powder from a dry chemical extinguisher.
Anyways, found this little nugget set to "Jerk it Out" by The Caesars:

This is probably not the best forum to share this on, but:
This guy is talented, he made scientific instruments out of spare parts for goodness sake!
He is also doing this:
I hope he makes what he needs, 100$ out of 1000$ raised so far.
Since this is the only forum I actually post on, I figure I may as well post about it here to help raise awareness.

Animation using the image sequence from Junos' latest Jupiter flyby (plus some fitting music)
Goddamn, Jupiter would be amazing to visit in person... if it weren't for the intense radiation and tidal forces to ruin your day.
-
man, I wish they could snap those pictures faster and get a decent frame rate.
-
Saw this one a long time ago, was recently reminded of it and looked it up (skip to 1:04 if you want to go straight to the music)
-
This whole fuss about those stupid spinners made me quite nostalgic xD

The more I see Juno send back, the more I'm filled with an overwhelming sense of how utterly wrong we've been about Jupiter's nature all this time. What a violent beast of a planet! Its magnetic field is starting to resemble a star's more than a planet's!

From what I've read (I might be wrong) Jupiter actually has the possibility to become a star if it were a bit more massive, since that would trigger the atomic fusion that our sun makes.
-
Is "a bit more massive" as scary as it sounds? I'm suddenly massively interested to know if there's a non-zero chance that Sol turns into a binary star system later on.

Jupiter's name, in hindsight, makes a lot more sense now :P

Hm, well, unless Jupiter somehow gets more hydrogen/helium to be 13 times bigger (with "a bit more massive" I mean within astronomical scales) it is unable to sustain the fusion reaction of a true star (it can however, fuse deuterium already.)
Some people call gas giants like Jupiter "brown dwarves".
-
And even then, calling Jupiter a true brown dwarf is a huge stretch. Granted, It is a fairly largeish gas giant, but it's no brown dwarf. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brown_dwarf
And now, for something completely different:
TL:DW The discovery of scale impressions on a T-Rex fossil doesn't actually matter because the T-Rex scale impressions are from the underside of the body,
but none of the Tyrannosauroidea that actually did have feathers (Eg:Yutyrannus) have them on that part of the body. .
So finding scales there proves/disproves absolutely nothing.

For anyone who plays XCOM 2.
I will not be sorry for any games ruined by this video.
Edited to fix: Just use the video ID, not the whole URL! -- Mongoose

A simple concept but I really enjoy all of these.

This documentary styled investigation about the myth of POLYBIUS is one of the most amazing things I've watched on youtube recently.
You deserve to watch it.

In that vein, check this out:

Oh, if you want an idea what it is before c̵l̷i̴c̸k̷i̸n̸g̸, which is a reasonable thing I guess, It's just a f̷u̶n̴ LP of a visual novel, with voices by J̷e̴s̶s̷e̶ Cox and Dodger (who does the best voices).
It's three long episodes, but w̸o̷r̴t̵h̷ every second.

This is weird as ****, and yet..

:wtf: that can't be his real name...
-
no his real name is Harris Bomberguy :P

He's a great youtuber.
-
It's a shame about 90% of his content is awfully written and filled with iljustified smarm. :nono:

I would say that it's mroe about 50% and that I used to not like that stuff at all until I realized how much I needed it 0_o
-
See I was the opposite, at first I thought it was charming. (See his Fallout video's for an example of a right, and the smarm being justified). But now I think it's honestly a bit cringe-worthy. I think I kinda fell off for good when he made his really poor defense of Dark Souls 2 video.
Also is it just me that thinks he looks less healthy every-time I see him actually appear in his videos. He gets paler everytime. (TBH I need some more sun, and less hamburgers).
-
I love what you call his "smarm". but obviously, YMMV. I mean, I was also into Plinkett's weirdness when his first star wars / star trek review videos came out and I know a lot of people were put off by it. It's self-aware smarm and self-deprecatory, so it's fine by my book. It also has a spec of being a commentary on vlogging itself, and that makes me smile a bit too.
-
and now for something somewhat different.
This guy is amazingly creative, watch the first two in quick succession.

Anyone here enjoy Squirrel Monkey (https://twitter.com/joluijten) (Twitter)? Found them on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/squirrelmonkeyworld/), but they have a YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCXA2lepIpHZ24iQU22WgDeA) as well. Here's the video that got me into it, and they have many others in similar vein. Enjoy:
