(cira 2337-8) Alliance Command has just released the news of a completed new destroyer designed specifically to battle the remaining Shivan forces inhabiting our space. This new destroyer is amazing in everyway possible. GTA Informational relations officer Jamal Wallace summarized the new Hecate for us
"The GTD-Hecate is the most advanced destroyer ever buidlt. It is the latest in GTA turret based technology. Although visually identical to the its Orion sister ships, they lacked the firepower to seriously damage the Lucifer class destroyer. Although on its own the Hecate cannot destroy a Shivan Juggernaut, a battle group of say 4 in conjunction with cruiser, bomber, and fighter support can. The new turret systems emit a larger pulse based on Shivan turrets. 8 times powerful than conventional heavy turrets, almost any threat can be neutralized very quickly. The Hecate also features a new anti crusier and fighter turret called the Avenger X. Although maintaing the fire power of conventional turrets, the avenger adds an accelerated speed that can does well against shielded craft as well. All in all, the new Orion class GTD-Hecate is the most well rounded ship in the Alliance fleet. In two weeks it will rondevue with the 4th battlegroup where it will replace the Repulse as its flagship."
