I have to say... as an American who's currently taking vector calculus.  I'm a bit offended.

Whatever.  Even I say million billion and thousand billion.  Why?  For laughs.  It makes it sound absurd and slightly childish.  If I'm being serious and I'll use the real words.

But how often do we talk about numbers that big seriously without saying, "Screw it" and jumping into scientific notation?
