To be honest I suspect I've installed something that is causing trouble. I do remember .ogg working at one point.

Thanks for the responses
I changed to openGL but that didnt load at all.  I am currently downloading the textures VP and will try that.  Does lightspeeds nebulas come from a different download.  On the SCP site he has his own section are they in there.

Turns out that the problem was that I had installed the Direct Show .ogg filter some time in the distant past. Once I went to \system32\ and ran the uninstall program the problem went away. :)
