Sony:

Some interesting content. (God of War, Assassin's Creed 3 (not exclusive though), The Last of Us)
Some boring content. (Long boring trailer for Beyond, that longass demo of the augmented reality Harry Potter book)

Jack Tretton sucking the fun out of it all + some pretty blaring broadcast sound issues.

Sony should have done better. Discuss.

Watchdogs looks potentially awesome, though I'll still give it a pass, if Ubisoft can't get its ****ty DRM sorted.  The rest of Ubisoft's press conference was utterly without merit, particularly the sheer amount of padding and god-awful banter between the hack speakers.

It's pretty clear so far that developers have very little idea what to do with the Wii U's tablet controller, as nearly every demo and trailer just shows the tablet dupicating what's being displayed on the television.  Microsoft's continuing to try to tag along with each fad that Nintendo taps into continues to be laughable.

EA's conference was pretty bland, but the FIFA '13 trailer gave me a brilliant idea:  Football Hooligan Simulator [year], with a Rioters versus Law Enforcement multiplayer mode.  **** the actual playing of soccer.  Make a soccer video game that completely ignores the playing of soccer, in favor of the aftermath of the playing of soccer!  I think I snoozed through the rest of EA's offering.

I honestly have not even bothered watching the rest of the E3 conferences.  Watchdogs stole the show for me.  It's the only big title that didn't feel like it was following a super-safe formula, and there was really no way that Sony could hope to top that, particularly since they have a commercial reason to be super-focused on the Vita, a platform that I have no interest in whatsoever.

It bears repeating:  Watchdogs.  If you've only got time to watch ten minutes of E3 footage, that's the footage to watch.

Watch Dogs actually looks interesting. Not my kind of thing, but still interesting :)

I don't think I've cared about E3 for several years now.  The only current-gen console I own is a Wii, and I have something like 80 unplayed games in my Steam library, so I can afford to not pay attention to what's new. :p

I haven't been following E3 (and I certainly don't plan to start), but the meta-commentary about building genre fatigue for FPS games interests me greatly. Especially the question of what will come after.

Rock, Paper, Shotgun has published an interesting article about E3 that a lot of gamers just might agree with.

Yeah I think that article is 100% on the money. There's no nostalgia involved because you only need to compare what we're seeing at E3 with what's actually making waves in gaming today.

I'm quite suprised that Sony or Microsoft didn't have GTA V gameplay it could been huge but i guess Rockstar didn't bother about it

+1
E3 has been everything I don't care about nicely contained in one package.

fps games aren't all that interesting for me anymore. it was back when every generation of fps games either brought in new eye-candy and/or new gameplay features. and i generally do not like mainstream publishers all that much. the amount of bull**** in gaming these days is astronomical. im waiting on the next generation of consoles, not because i want one but because i want the game tech to jump forward on the pc side. since any change in graphics quality will carry over to the pc side. all the console ports have made the current generation of games a repeat of the last. i expect that to continue though unless pc games take over some serious market share.

The XCOM trailer was kinda awesome.

NFS: Most Wanted not only pisses me off by refusing to get a new name (AGAIN, THAT'S TWICE CRITERION) but is also just absolute BLATANT cashing-in by EA on the Most Wanted name. There has yet to be any customization shown, and it looks like there won't be any. Instead it looks like a remake of Hot Pursuit 2010 in a city. The only things they talked about were Autolog 2.0 (Nobody gives a ****) and the cinematic crash physics (Which I don't plan on using, THANK YOU) so I'm not very happy with that, as one of my favorite game series is finally being raped under the EA money printing press. >.< And it really ticks me off, because it's more to do with bad design decisions from Criterion, and yet EA is going along with it because they know enough people will see it and think, "Most Wanted? HOLY ****! MONEY, TAKE IT!" and they can make a profit off of idiots like that.

And I hate the WatchDogs trailer. I hate it because it's so good. It looks AMAZING, but it's being published by Ubisoft, who I can't in good conscience give money to. My only hope is that by the time it's released I'll have my own computer that I can torrent it on.

Other than those, I haven't seen much form E3.
Sig nuked! New one coming soon!

Bethesda Softworks seems to be about to beat Valve in releasing HL3.  They have this game called 'Dishonored', that seems to be somewhere between 'Steampunk Deus Ex' and 'Magical Hitman'.  Knowing Bethesda, it is going to be good, but riddled with more then a few bugs at launch.

That and XCOM are about the only big budget games I am interested in this year, though.

I heard about Dishonored too, and saw the trailers. I don't know how good it's going to be, but I really like the setting and ambiance.

Ugh, I really wish people would stop doing this. Bethesda is not developing Dishonored. They deserve zero credit for it.

Bethesda development lacks the capability and intelligence to pull off a Deus Ex style game.
