Re: RELEASE: Blue Planet: Chanticleer
Chanticleer 3.0-beta is now out, with an entirely new SOC loop between missions 7 and 8.  Voice acting will be included in 3.0-final.

Re: RELEASE: Blue Planet: Chanticleer
Took me awhile to get back to this, but whatever you did fixed my issues with the checkpoint system. Thanks!

Spoiler:
Lots of different ways you could try to solve the Utopia Planitia mission. I took Atlanteas and armed my wingmen with Harpoons with I had Tag-As. I ordered them to stay behind and guard the space dock while I scanned the Trojan Horse. Then ordered them to take on the fighter escort while I raced back to Tag the Custoses(Custi?) it barely works, but it did the last time I tried.
I’m definitely hooked! Looking forward to finishing the rest of the campaign.

That was by design.  I balanced it three ways:
Spoiler:
TAG-A + a fast fighter like the Atalanta/Perseus, using the Rhea/Artemis as a missile boat, and my personal preference, which is using an Aurora with a Maxim in the quad bank. I specifically programmed the missions which require sensors - Venus, Luna, Mars, and Europa - to give small advantage to people who fly the Aurora.

Chanticleer 3.0 is out!  There's a whole new, fully-voiced 3-mission SOC loop, a fully voiced opening cutscene, and a complete medal system.

Get it here: https://fsnebula.org/mod/bpchanticleer

Re: RELEASE: Blue Planet: Chanticleer
Just finished it, that was an awesome ride! Thank you so much. It really hit me at the end that the war was finally over, wonderful music choices there.  I loved all the continuity bits connecting it to the other Blue Planet campaigns. Difficulty and mission design were very enjoyable. Not sure I can pick out a favorite. Feels a bit weird playing as a Blue Planet protagonist who's not receiving alien visions of grandeur, but I'm all for it haha. Voice acting was great, in particular I thought the VAs for Ned and Hannah were stand outs.

I did find that one mission where you escort the Hecate carrier back to the station able to be cheesed if you disable the engines of the Petra while it's still friendly. The Hecate can limp all the way into a better defensive spot.
AND MY AXE!

Re: RELEASE: Blue Planet: Chanticleer
Thanks!  I didn't realize you could break the mission by deliberately knocking out the Petra while friendly.

Re: RELEASE: Blue Planet: Chanticleer
Just finished playing through it for the first time!

Voice acting was fantastic, well done to all involved on that. I enjoyed the SOC missions alot as well, the two loops were quite different to the missions before.

I wasn't a huge fan of the ending, but I think thats just because I want to see a UEF 'win' rather than the GTVA achieving victory. Out of interest was there a reason in the final fleet battle that a Solaris wasn't present? As I understand it only the Toutatis was destroyed, not all three?

The very first mission felt almost impossible for me on the higher difficulties, I wasn't able to destroy the bombers before they got off a single salvo that destroyed the Chanticleer, had no issues on the lower difficulty sessions but it did meean I had to reduce it for that single mission.

Thanks, mate.  From a lore perspective, I didn't put the Solaris at the node battle because it's engaged at Earth.  For Byrne's gamble to work, he has to make sure that every single GTVA destroyer group is pinned down before he makes his big move.

Spoiler:
When the Maitreya makes a run for the node, the Eris is crippled from the Battle of Mars. Byrne, who only has the Solaris left, has to account for seven Alliance destroyers, six of which are in fighting shape:

* Phoenicia and Vengeance, guarding the node
* Hood, guarding Mars
* Agamemnon and Implacable, guarding Jupiter
* Atreus, in reserve
* Imperieuse, in drydock.

Byrne very nearly gets it - his bombers destroy the Vengeance and mission-kill the Phoenicia during the Chanticleer SOC loop.  The Hood is tied down by Federal strike craft at Mars, and Steele has sortied the Agamemnon and Implacable to engage the Solaris at Earth, leaving only the Atreus in reserve.  (This is all in the SOC Loop B briefing.)

But from a gameplay perspective, I wanted to leave enough space for the BP Team to finish War in Heaven if they want, so I coordinated with Darius and The_E on the storyline parts.

Re: RELEASE: Blue Planet: Chanticleer
I just got done playing the newest version.  Overall I really liked this, great work on it.

I have no. problem with a GTVA does better in BP type scenario.

One minor issue is I think the ending could have been just a tad bit more conclusive.

Spoiler:
  The game says the Elders have requested an armistice and IIRC the final briefing says the Feds gave up.  However, there is mention made of the subspace ship (Maritreya sp?) and the UED Eris still being active.  I'm not sure whether that means they're going to try for an active guerilla resistance or they're just trying to run away.  If this was meant to be the end of the war, or at least major operations, then the subspace ship or the Eris at least should have been destroyed probably.  Maybe in the final main mission where the Atreus comes in to secure the node the Eris could have came in and got destroyed as a distraction to let the node/subspace ship escape.  IMO, having both of those still in active opposition doesn't feel like a complete end of the war like the true final mission (scanning stuff) tried to portray.

I'm going to presume that the UED Solaris surrendered; correct me if I'm wrong there.

Also, I'm not sure what was meant in the final briefing about Steele wanting to meet with the Elders.  If the UEF surrendered and is giving up its sovereignty (the GTVA said "you're our countrymen now"), what is there really to discuss?  In addition, you said the node ship was still there as a "trump card".  To me, "trump card" implies a winning measure.  If the UEF is truly beaten, I'm not sure they can fully negotiate with Steele as equals.  Now the node ship is an important tool, but saying "trump card" sounds like they're not fully surrendering.
I think you could keep the spirit of what you said but also make it a bit more conclusive with a minor text change.  It could say something like "They still have their node destabilizer ship out there.  While not able to penetrate our node blockade on its own, they might be able to use it to get less harsh terms from Steele."

I apologize if I'm misunderstanding things somehow.

You say you want to leave space for the BP team to possibly finish BP, but I don't think they'd be bound by your campaign so you're free to do what you want (and so are they).

Again, this is a relatively minor quibble about the ending.  I really liked it overall.

Re: RELEASE: Blue Planet: Chanticleer
Played it through, really enjoy the campaign.

Is there a list of the music credits for the mod?  I am especially interested in the briefing music for mission 9, which i saw as Emerald Isle or something like that (apologies as I'm on the road and away from my normal computer).

Re: RELEASE: Blue Planet: Chanticleer
Thanks! I'm not at my computer right now, but the credits file in the tech room should have a list of the music.

Re: RELEASE: Blue Planet: Chanticleer
The credits listed one for that mission that I think was in the gameplay, but saw the briefing music was "emeraldisle.ogg." I've come up dry (via Google or Shazam) trying to find out what it is and am really curious. Thanks in advance for any help!

Edited: Found it!  Extreme Music's "Emerald Isle."

Re: RELEASE: Blue Planet: Chanticleer
I asked Darius, who gave me it, and yes, it's Emerald Isle by Jacob Shea.  I forgot I switched the music.

Re: RELEASE: Blue Planet: Chanticleer
The 3.1.2 update is to use the correct Maitreya model, and fix a bug related to it in mission 9.
