To be fair, I can't see a whole lot of that on my not-dying CRT, either. :p I tend to keep my monitor brightness set around 10%, as I generally like to not spend several hours per day staring into a blindingly-bright screen.

Re: A celebration of FreeSpace
I shall reinforce that by telling all of you what I see on my MacBook's LCD at 100% brightness, from left to right, top to bottom:

Spoiler:
Engine trail, Lucifer, Vasudan thing,
Demon, beamglow,
Something, Vasudan Turret projectile?, engine trail, engine trail, half-red Orion, LRed,
Faustus, Typhon on colorblind mode.

Yyyyyyyyyyyyyyup. :nervous:

Re: A celebration of FreeSpace

I swear it doesn't look that dark on the machine I was playing it on.

The mission is just using the default blue sun. Is there a way to make the light brighter/dimmer that I don't know of (outside of lighting settings)? I thought a blue sun was canonical for Deneb...

Ah... the wonders of FS2 AI...

Killed en-masse by a ship that was disarmed and destroyed twenty seconds ago.
-snip-

I recall once playing Forced Entry on Blueplanet, a whole shivan bomber wing kindda suicided.
Actually, someone shot one of the bombs they launched, and it did some kind of chain reaction (triggering other bombs)
It resulted in a massive explosion, and the whole wing somehow got killed by their leader (Whateverwasthewingname 1)

Do bomb shockwaves trigger other bombs?

No.  Shockwaves don't affect weapons.

They do, but of course its proportional to mass. The effect is so usually small it is not noticeable.

Yeah I think I've seen ships blasted around by torpedo volleys in WiH.

That's the reason you can use EMP missiles to destroy the Tiamat (?) in the Aquitaine mission (don't remember if its the stealth fighter one or the one where it's disabled), isn't it?

No... I don't think so.
That has more to do with the way damage scales on corvettes and destroyers (and juggernauts), and how shockwave damage ignores that or something.

Re: A celebration of FreeSpace
Actually, I thought the reason why the EMP. Adv is able to destroy a Moloch is because it has the -huge flag.

"The GTM-14 Electromagnetic Pulse Advanced warhead interferes with the electronics systems of vessels caught within its blast radius. This renders the affected ships unable to track targets, manage communications, or gain aspect missile lock. Tactically, the GTM-14 is a very effective anti-bomber weapon, as it also temporarily shuts down the guidance and propulsion systems of warheads in flight. I should probably had not used that quote, but that's basically what I meant - that shockwaves ignore the huge flag, hence they can destroy capital ships.

Anyway, more pictures required! ;)

Argh, lots of cruisers jumping out right in front of me! (Because I ordered all of them to attack the freighter... :p)

The Temeraire prepares to unleash her wrath on the Kyton.

Bei and his new friends approach the Temeraire for landing.

A seemingly pointless screenshot, though the view reminded me of being in the capital ships on X3: Terran Conflict.

Fighters scramble to attempt to save Earth, and yes it's the dreaded teal afterburner, I LIKE TEAL AFTERBURNER. :P

An aged Leviathan providing extra fire to the Shvians, it is only unfortunate that she houses the firepower of the Leviathans of the First Great War.

Shivan fighers gun it to the fray.

The target of the Leviathans, a Cain meets a hail of Fusion Mortars.

The defenders stand little chance, though they try valiantly.

A Basilisk begins its attack approach.

This will only end in sorrow.

The Aurora on a routine sweep in a scattered asteroid field.

Another ridiculously dark screenshot, this showing the Aurora again, pretty blue glows. :D
