Very appropriate title for this mission.

If I agreed with you, we would both be wrong

Between the picture and CKid's comment to go with it, I'm guessing it's A Monster in the Mist--the one where you scan the Sathanas.
If you don't have Knossos, you need it.

Re: A celebration of Freespace
Wow, many comments here. Glad you guys like the screenshot.

It looks like it's underwater.

FS2 main campaign, with (possibly) tweaked nebula graphics and sunshafts.

No tweaks here, just the 2014 mediavps and all the pretty graphics enabled. Still using my custom lighting settings found here: http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/Sample_Lighting_Settings I believe that those settings are also one of the defaults available in the wxlauncher. (Not 100% sure, I use launcher 5.5g)

Re: A celebration of Freespace
Yeah, 2014 mvps look awesome. You guys should replay the entire campaign just to experience it all over again. I know I'm doing it :D

I thought the mediavps only changed the ships. Does it run a lot deeper than that?

Not sure if serious... :wtf:
Turn off mediavps and play some FS2 retail campaign missions. Then let's try again.

The nebula between 3.6.12 and 2014 is indeed different.

Re: A celebration of Freespace
Took a screenshot of the same mission with the same lighting settings (although with just the regular in-game external camera).

Sun doesn't quite look the same as yours, CKid. You using any extra lighting settings, or a custom post-processing table?

Re: A celebration of Freespace
I see a misunderstanding here. CKid's lightshafts are drawing two huge shadows from the Sathanas' almost invisible arms, giving the image its amazing look.

If you place yourself somewhere besides the left side of the Sathanas looking at its claws (and the star), you'll get that screenshot.

Apart from that detail, the look is exactly the same.

Re: A celebration of Freespace
But, but, but I don't want to give away my secrets.

Ok, look at this:

Two shots taken moments away from each other. The camera is close to the same position and direction in both. The reason there is a difference between the two is because of the position of the player's ship when entering camera mode. Facing the star and entering camera mode, you'll get the massive glare and sun-shafts. However when looking away from the star and entering camera mode, you will only get a faction of the effect. Don't ask me why it works like this, I will leave that to the people that know these things. I just enjoy taking screenshots.

Re: A celebration of Freespace
Yes that always happens when I try to make a screenshot looking somewhat into the star's direction with the script. It slowly creeps the glare into the image.
