3) You must have a campaign outline.

I'd like to request more information on project hosting policy requirement 3.

An example of a previous projects campaign outline that was deemed acceptable would suffice.

Thanks.

Re: Hosting Policy requirement 3
it's always been a little open ended. Really the admins just want to see that you have an actual plan/goal that you are working toward. They don't want to host projects that are just making Super Awesome Mega Mod #342... because those almost always fail. Do you know what your story is, generally at least, from beginning to end? Do you have a basic idea of the plot beats for individual missions? Do you have an estimate on how many missions that will take? Do you need to finish all missions before you release, or can you release in chunks like BP? That sort of thing.

If you meet all of the other requirements, I don't think meeting #3 is really going to be that much of a problem.

Re: Hosting Policy requirement 3
Indeed. If you are able to show "significant progress", then it's likely you know where your campaign is headed and have a plan. Also, as for the website.. I got away with making a set of pages on the Wiki. I don't really see a point for www.anotherhlpmod.com when everyone who wants info on my mod goes to my forum, or wiki page anyway.

Re: Hosting Policy requirement 3
The hosting policy is, I would say, more of a general set of suggestions. If you have all six things, there's still no guarantee you'll get hosted. Alternatively, hosting is possible even if you haven't ticked all those boxes. Ultimately, when your request for hosting is assessed, whoever makes the decision (one or more of the administrators) will make the decision on the basis of individual factors.

Speaking as a user and hosted project head, as far as I can tell, HLP wants to host projects that will add value to the community by releasing something playable and good as soon as possible and, in all honesty, all of the admins have been around long enough to know what those kinds of projects look like - it's not impossible to predict who's likely to succeed and who isn't.

That said, the six points in that post are a fantastic starting point if you want to get hosted. Just remember that "significant progress" is the one that matters most.

Good points by everyone in this thread.

I will also add that a hosting decision isn't necessarily final.  I remember someone who submitted a hosting proposal that was light on content and vague on the details.  We rejected it, and told him why.  Some time later, he came back with a much stronger proposal, complete with evidence of significant work since his last application, and it was approved.

Re: Hosting Policy requirement 3
So basically what you want to see for the campaign outline is a brief overview of what happens in each mission and how they fit together. Yes?

Yes, that would satisfy that requirement.
