Just a question about something that's been bugging me ever since I saw it in FSO.
When a ship warps in, is it supposed to be only visible after it leaves the "event horizon" of the subspace tear?
Because under FSOpen (dunno about FS2), but when the Deimos warps in it does that for like the 1st 2/5s of the ship and then another 1/3rd just pops on behind the subspace opening and it looks pretty damn stupid. I don't get why the thing would work well for one part of the warp in and then get weird for the latter half.
You guys know what I'm talking about? I don't know if this problem occurs all the time, but I've only noticed it with FSOpen anyway . . . I don't know if it happens with other ships either. I can grab a screencap when I get home from work if necessary.

Sometimes I target ships before they open the warp gate. I target something invisible, the warp gate opens and the ship passes through.

Aye. I've seen it too. At least with the Deimos. Dunno whether there's a solution. For now, you probably have to just look the other way when a Deimos is jumping in.

What version/builds of FS2Open does this occur with?

Hmm ... that's a good question. I've seen it happen with some of the most recent builds from SVN, but I seem to remember it happening with older builds as well. The best mission to test it with, IMO is "Surrender, Belesarius" because you can see easily if the Deimos is targetable before it warps in.

I was using 3.6.9 I believe.

Confirmed. Little time to thoroughly test 3.6.10's.
