Old post:New project, and one of the two ships left for the zods in the port.

Its well underway and being textured at a decent pace.
However before anyone comes in pointing out that the tech description says its unmanned, the retail texture has a dead vasudan in it. And all that copula space makes me think that was a mistake on  :v-old: behalf that never got fixed. Just explaining my reason why.
And per matthegeeks request I'll be making a non-fsport civillian version (as a shuttle) out of the same model, just removing the docking area model and replacing it with more a simplified docking model.

Not really a request but more like "hey that would be cool if it's not too much trouble, I'm sure people out there would make good use of it" :)

It would be cool, but the animation code is very restricted in what you can do that does not involve rotations. :(

Anyhow last update for the year (only spent an hour modeling it), I ripped out the autoloader system for re arming fighters and replaced it with a personnel dock.

It would be cool, but the animation code is very restricted in what you can do that does not involve rotations. :(

I thought it supported rotations and NOT translations.  The back-sloped section behind the dockpoint could be made to swing into the hull, hinging at the back, and then the dock collar cylinder be attached to the end of it and rotate in the opposite direction so it remains perpendicular to the hull and swings up into the hull.

I love your work dude, but I honestly would've made it unmanned. The ship is novel in that regard if nothing else, and I'm also willing to bet that Volition would put more precedent on the lore of the game than an obscure model that was never seen once which the modeler probably screwed up by assuming it was manned and stuck a cockpit on it.

From a strictly technical standpoint however it is A++ as usual.  :yes:

Perhaps an unmanned version could be made by replacing the cockpit with a sensor suite. You won't even have to get rid of the glass, just model a bunch of sensor systems behind it.

I'm afraid you'll have to do that yourself, or switch the transparent glass to non transparency. (There is no more room on the map for extra polygons save for the debris.)

Update: On the last bit of details,the model will be done next week or so and that goes for both.

BTW, I've noticed that, mostly thanks to you, the only unupgraded Vasudan ships in Mediavps and the Ra and Bes. Are you planning on doing them at some point?

I just noticed that there is a glowpoint texture, blue_glow, that isn't in the release, and I can't find it in any of the Port or MV2014 VP files.  I've switched it to blue_glow1_small that is in the MV_Assets file so debug won't complain.  Is that the file you intended?
