i am having a couple of problems with INFA, the first is that whenthe railguns fire the particle spew doesn't work, well it does but all i get is a distorted image, in attached screenshot.
Problem 2 is i created a new railgun, excatly the same cept i changed the effects so that it looks like a ball of fire but i can't get any firing sounds despite its complete copy of the original railguns any clues?

What FS Open build are you using? Try a different one and see if it still occurs.
The sounds for the railguns point to the Inferno SCP sounds table, the INF Core vp file has an override TBM which changes them to below the FS2 sound limit for when not running on INF SCP. If you just copied and edited the raiglun weapon entry, then the sounds are pointing to the wrong place.

i'm using the 3.6.9 release, which one is recomended?

The 3.6.9 builds.
Try extracting the effect from the VP and putting it in the effects folder, or try using another ani in place of it to see if that makes a difference. It could be a corrupt VP.

i have tried redownloading it still get the same effect, i have tried to replace the effect with renaming another ani file to the same name but something keeps overiding the file put in the INFA/Data/effects folder and it still use's the one in the VP. The tables folder are empty because i have done a fresh install and i have tried 2 other versions of the 3.6.9 and i still get the same, its odd how this is the only ani that does it everything else is fine.
