Re: What are you playing right now?
Finished up the new Tomb Raider. To me it seemed to be far too easy for anyone with shooter experience. It mixed it up nicely with puzzles and stealthy bits though, which I quite enjoyed. Once I started caring about the story it got a lot better. Wasn't mindblowing, but it was definitely decent.
[16:57] <CommanderDJ> What prompted the decision to split WiH into acts?
[16:58] <battuta> it was long, we wanted to release something
[16:58] <battuta> it felt good to have a target to hit
[17:00] <RangerKarl> not sure if talking about strike mission, or jerking off
[17:00] <CommanderDJ> WUT

[17:00] <battuta> hahahaha
[17:00] <RangerKarl> same thing really, if you think about it

DoomRL

Top down Roguelike based on doom, using sprites rather than ascii (thank you sanity) all with doom music and SF :D
Those screenshots look hilarious.

AudioSurf. I'm getting a bit frustrated trying to beat my own damned Casual record for Xepher by Tatsh (it's really pissing me off to the point where I would end up getting a nightmare of that song manifesting itself as a vinyl disc or an audio cassette*).

Spoiler:
* Yes, it was my jam. Then it stopped when it got a bit into my head and when I remembered beating someone in DDR with that song.

I'm listening to that now, and imagining it as an AudioSurf track, and it's giving me a small bit of epilepsy. But I still really want to load it up in Beat Hazard and have at it.

I can't believe how much time I used to put into SimCity, building these massive cities, and then destroying them with disasters. :drevil:

Re: What are you playing right now?
Would people recommend the SC series for someone who's never been very good at RTSs? I've been thinking of trying it out.

Go for one of the earlier versions (2000,3000, 4) instead. Far less buggy at this point in time.

Wait...did he mean Sim City, or StarCraft?

It's not really an RTS in the same sense as most other RTSs
So yes

(I'm presuming Sim City as that's what we're talking about)

Oops, my bad, I should have clarified: by SC I meant StarCraft, not SimCity. :P

Sorry!

Now are we talking SCI and BW, or SCII WoL and HoTS?

Either way, they're not dissimilar. Custom matches such as turret defenses can be fun for you if you decide not to take part in the matches most go for. I'd say yes, go for it. Campaign is fun, and all the custom map setting stuff will keep you busy otherwise

Re: What are you playing right now?
Well I was going to start with SCI and then move on to II so I can get into the story properly, as I'm expecting that (as with most games) to be what keeps me playing. And yes, I know about the shenanigans with the later parts of the story. I don't mind, I'm going to try it out anyway.

But yeah, thanks for the recommendation; I'll look at picking up SCI sometime soon.

Re: What are you playing right now?
One could always download Tiberian Sun. I have yet to finish playing that one, actually, but in all honesty I think it's an easier game to play. Starcraft and Warcraft were always high-stress games where failure to do something at just the right second could lead to horrible death. C&C moves at a much more reasonable pace in my opinion.
