this includes any version of freespace 1, freespace 2, fs open, etc... and also includes any mods (inferno for example) or campaigns (sync, homesick, etc...) just be sure to mention where you got it. now as for me:
Coolest: The battle above Earth in the inferno campaign.
Funniest: When i called in a volition bravos using cheat codes.
Scariest: One of those scenes when you hear the heavy breathing in the transcendant campaign
Weirdest: When i somehow self destructed in a FRED mission i created.
Feel free too post as many as you like, or add other types of moments. just don't double post pleese

Well, the funniest thing I've seen is hard to describe without a video capture, but it's going into my campaign as an easter egg. :D

Coolest: the attack against the Lucifer!
Funniest: any part of DEM or JAD
Scariest: any part of Sync or Transcend
Weirdest: when I played "Their finest hour" :doubt:

wierdest thing I've seen was when I was playing derelict, a Hippocrates made it almost to it's next waypoint, but couldn't hit it just right. It sat there, rotating, spinning, around right where it was supposed to go for it's waypoint but just couldn't make it. I cranked up the speed, and got a pretty interesting show. After about 10-20 elapsed minutes, in-game-time, it found it's waypoint and warped out. That was a weird bug.
I really wasn't scared in Freespace, though I was scared by Ransom's campaigns. I also got really wierded out by the ending of Homesick.
As for the things I find cool and awesome: Asteroid defense missions. I really like em.. I dont know why, but they're fun. Coolest part the first time I played through FS2 was the first time you see beams in-game. FS1's coolest part for me was discovering I could disable certain subsystems rather than having to blow something up. Small Deadly Space is easier if you disable the two freighters rather than try to destroy them, as you'll probably have enough time to destroy one of them before the other jumps.

coolest: i launch 2 trebs at the sj, and it blew up before te collosus could fire its beams, i got the kill :cool:.
funniest: has to be derilect, that missions where your in the sleep stage you see the marie calaste, then a sj jumps in!!!.
scariest: DIVE DIVE DIVE, HIT YOUR BURNERS PILOT!!! - Lt. Cmdr. Snipes.
Weirdest: the Thebes got stuck before warping out on one of the sj's arms, so it was stuck there and couldnt jump out.

Coolest: 4vs4 TvT games while PXO multi was still alive, on good host, even teams :yes:
Funniest/Weirdest: someone caught in them weirdest lag effects on PXO :eek:
Scariest: lost a complete partition due to FSO crashing with unfortunate timing (made me switch file systems from JFS to XFS) :shaking:

Coolest: Destroying the Lucifer (If this is FS2 Moments only, then destroying the lucifer in FS Port)
Scariest: Beginning of the SOC mission with the Maras (yes, the Dive Dive Dive! one)
Wierdest: Dream Sequence In Derilect. No offence, but they broke tha "Have no downtimes longer then 30 seconds" extremly. I put that one up to the fastest time rate I could still fly at (x16).
Funniest: Somehow killing myself with mo own missles. No, I did not shoot them at a ship, so I think it was a glitch. Especially since my hull intregrary was about 65%, and my missles were Hornets and Harpoons.

Coolest moment: FS1-The Bastion taking out the SD Tantalus near the end...
FS2-Defending the Bastion, and the cutscene that follows.
Funniest:the part in The Great Hunt, when one of the captains says "Steady as she goes." such an anachronism
Scariest:Dive Dive Dive...definitely
weirdest:Probably the dream sequence in derelict...

Funniest: after he said DIVE DIVE DIVE i got smacked the face by the sathanas since i was busy drinking pop with my hands off the controls.......and even funnier still is how i shot all the pop out of my mouth in one big blast when i relized it was comming to me at 300+ mp/s......priceless
Coolest: when the colossus survives the collission with the repulse WOOT!!!
Scariest: scarier still is when capella whent supernova
weirdest: when in the last mission a science cruiser got clipped into a medical frigate while the frigate dragged them both into suspace.

Coolest: Toughie. Probably in the Transcend mission where the cruiser jumps in on top of the Zephyrus and destroys both. Mixture of cool and hilarity, with a sneaking horror. Also, the Capella supernova. Mixture of extreme awesomeness and horror (I was about ten kilometers out, IIRC).
Funniest: DEM and JAD, specifically the Disco Inferno part of JAD. I died three times because I couldn't focus, I was laughing so hard.
Scariest: Transcend in general. Sync didn't scare me so much (though it was equally awesome), but Transcend...I jumped out of my seat when the heavy breathing kicked in. In my defense, it was 2 AM, I was tired, and had loud headphones on, and didn't know Transcend was scary at all (hehe, I'm an idiot). Along with that, the time the screen went black and, when it goes back to normal, half the enemy fleet has disappeared and the other half is exploding. I dunno, but it scared the crap out of me.
Weirdest: JAD/DEM. For trippy, 'What the hell's going on?!' weird, see Transcend.

ah, yes...the colission in transcend that toby mentioned....THAT was without a doubt the coolest thing i ever saw (or at least one of). Spinning cruisers......LOL

Which time? XD I've had so many mishaps, accidents, and general 'HOHMAHGAWD, WHAT IS THAT!?' moments, I've lost count. Most are generally followed with my immediate death.
My first encounter with a Sathanas getting pissed off at a cap ship and shooting it? I ran into the beam. I heard it charging, and only had time to dive and hit the 'burners before it fried me. Oh, and my first encounter with a Terran Slash beam...similar. Except I was nowhere near the target. I hate TSlashes now.
My first encounter with most beams involves my death, actually. =/ First time I saw AAA beams on a friendly ship, the big friendly blue beam became intimately acquianted with my hull, completely missing the bomber in front of me.
And then there was the 'DIVE, DIVE, DIVE!' moment. I accidentally pulled the stick back. *cough* I became a hood ornament. The second time over, I didn't expect the big boom of the Shivan Comm Nodes, and got megapwnd by it.
Don't even get me started on my deaths in Transcend, Sync, DEM (I'm pathetic), and Derelict, either. Hell, I even died in the Dream Sequence in Derelict. I don't even know how. Something ran into me.
And to Haloboy: YEAH! XD I was about 5k from it when it happened, and all I did was cut power to engines and boost shields, simply so I could watch the mayhem. I restarted the mission simply to see it again, I was so confused/curious as to the cause of the mayhem.

LOL! I've died in the dream sequence as well in Derelict. I got clobbered by the sath as it warped in.

That was a Sathanas? I honestly didn't know. =/ All I saw was a big pointy thing pass me, and all of a sudden, something ran into me and killed me. I assume, now, that the big pointy thing was one of the front spire things.
I've come to the conclusion that I win at life. Or at least, losing life. I win at losing life. Yeah!

well in the dream sequence i got smacked by the sathanas comming in but for some reason i just bounced off at like 900+ m/s. i just kept flying while a little window reading "downloading new orders" came in. i'm like WTF!?

Scariest: When I had about a dozen Harpoons going up my tailpipe w/o any Countermeasures.
Funniest: In the sixth Homesick mission, 2 Tritons and the Overseer crash into each other and spin like crazy.
Wierdest: The Derelict dream sequence, I couldn't find my way around so I ended up flying around for 90 minutes looking for the sath.
Coolest: When I saw 2 enemy hercs crash into each other.

me also the derelict dream scene with the sathanas jumping at me lol but im stuck there i disabled the gold wing in accettable losses destroyed the shivans but it just sits there the mission bug? does nothing after 40 minutes of 64x compressed time

coolest: my own mission with only capital ships from almost every campagne( if i not asked for permission and used in own mission is that bad? i didnt upload the mission) (including me) uhm more than 140 capships
70 shivan and 35 vasudan and 35 terran. that was my coolest mission in fs2 ever!
funniest: i was a little fighter and i was followd bij 149 enemies from fighters to juggs xD
Weirdest: The disco sequence in Just another day 2 that was damn weird xP
scariest : dont really have one but i maybe the first encounter with the sathanas in the nebula i couldnt see on what it was or how big it was it was really cool but scary:P

My coolest moment in FreeSpace was in MT when Earth first attacked. 8)
Funny was when in DEM when the Colossus self destructed itself. :lol:
Weirdest was when I was in a mission I made, where the Orion and a Hecate warped in, they were colliding inside each other and those little debris bits were everywhere... :wtf:
Scariest was in Transcend, freakkkkkyyyy. :nervous:

Anything above a bomber (cruiser, corv, destroyer, jug, etc.) wont 'chase' you, they will only shoot at you.

Coolest: In FS1 ages ago. I was chasing this slippery Shivan, and damn was he slippery. I couldn't get decent hit in no matter how much I violated my joystick. Then suddenly there was a stream of laser fire from the bottom left corner of my screen. The Shivan blow up and a Ulysses (my wingmate) flew trough the explosion. It doesn't sound like much here, but the whole chain of events was so cinematic (and cool) that I still remember it like it was yesterday.
Funny: In self made mission. Two Faustus science vessels have attack orders on same ship and they fly so close to each other that the other one gets stuck on the solar panel and starts rotating with it around the other Faustus...
Scariest: Transend of course...
Weirdest: In multiplayer, seeing someone flying Herc II. With 4 Cyclops right on his tail... :wtf: After the match someone mentioned he almost got a couple of kills with them. I don't know what made him think bombs would be useful ordnance in a dogfight...

Second place was definately in Enter the Lion's den, when Snipes said 'DIVE' I went up. Come to think of itI was pretty stupid. ::)

hehe cyclops torps, i remember one time i fired 2 torps at a shivan fighter and it destroyed it, then tried it again but the damn torps exploded before impact, it was very funny at the time.
i think i might have to change the funniest thing ive done.
funniest: jad and jad2, both campaigns kept me laughing through out.

In FS1, I was doing a gauntlet and I ran out of Hornet missiles, and I automatically switched to Tsunamis. I was wondering why it took so long to lock... Then I fired, and I found out.

I was playing a multiplayer mission with Cobra and IIRC DW Hunter, we were doing shivan gauntlet and they were in ursas. There was one mara left and they both were trying to kill it with cyclops (I was in enrinyes). We were there for a couple of minutes when one of their turrets accidently killed it.

Also in FS1 when you have to save the plato, I always get it to the jump node alive and then it just sits there. I end up shooting it my self because i'm tired of waiting for these so-called destroyers to blow it up.

How about the most confused moment? Paving the Way. Here I am, supposed to blast asteroids in the way of the Galatea and I can't figure out how to target them, my wingmen take them out for me and the Shivans, I dunno what happened with them but they didn't do much damage. Fire off any shots? Nope! Just flew along with the Galatea for about five minutes and done!
The most annoying mission I've played so far is Pandora's Box. Woulda been easier had I known to replace the disrupters with real guns! Does this mission ever run out of fresh pairs of Shivan fighters? Took me at least an hour or more to finally blast all the cargo containers after my wingmen got fried.

Cool and scary: Hard to think of. The absolute coolest part was the whole entire second SOC loop. Going back into the nebula (a dark one). Going beyond the second knossos (sweet). That shivan system was pretty ****ing alien (binary star, comm nodes, more knossi, more saths, and light fighter patrols). And yes DIVE DIVE DIVE.
Then there was when i was running away from the super nova. I got fried. Then came me flying the herc 2 potato with all power switched to engines, and beat the nova. That's also something i never heard of. Switching all power to shields and then experience the supernova. Real great idea there :lol: It is a stroke of genious, if the shields were stronger.
Scariest: Transcend wasn't really scary for me, but i did detect the scary atmosphere, enjoy it, and took part in it. The scariest moment for me was when i was playing derelict and the damn lucifer activates with all of its beams cutting itself out of the docking rings. I did not go near that ship during the rest of that mission.
Wierdest: I did that the other day. I was flying a bomber on a sathanas level, and i decided to take out a fighter because i could. The mara or whatever was a fair distance out, and my aspect targeting thing comes up, but it doesn't really take too long because that fighter wasn't really going anywhere, and i had a lock on, i started going after it a little more. Then i finally launched, and i was like oh ****, i just screwed the mission launching two helioses instead of trebs, and more overly forgot i was on dual fire for my missiles. And that really ****ed up the mission where you disarm the sathanas since i didn't quite have all those arms destroyed. I launched those bombs when i needed them for destroying one more arm on the sathanas. Talk about the worst time to use bombs on fighters. The fighter was toasted, but when i heard that bomb launch noise i was like OH ****!!!...NOOOO!!!...DAMMIT!!! I really wanted those bombs for the last an arm on the sathanas to pass the mission.
Funniest/****ed up: Me versus an asmodeus freighter. THOSE THINGS ALWAYS GET ME! They have enough firepower to keep me at a distance, damage me, keep me flying away from the asmodeus. They also have enough armor to withstand a good beating. So i usually am a good deal beaten up, or near death if i destroy an asmodeus by myself. But the asmodeus, keeps blasting me while it picks up it's cargo, or maintains formation in a convoy, and warps out. Somehow i see freighters, destroy them, and i never think properly about asmodeuses. The asmodeus is usually the first frieghter i engage by myself in a shivan convoy, then all of the other shivan freighters warp out while i was busy. Then maybe the asmodeus warps out too. I fall victim to this ****ing thing every time. So now alpha one orders his wingmates to take the asmodeus kill, because asmodeuses are my weakness. Maybe not really funny, but it is damn ****ed up.

what i do after each hit is equalise shields if im being attacked from 3 directions, or otherwise i put max to the front shield after every turret round hits my shield. i just fire away with tornadoes or hornets.
btw that mission with the sj's, the only sj on that mission is where you have to dive, the others are sjd's. sathanas Juggernaught Decoy. but it works :)
confusing: custom made mission, GTD Hades engine is weak im still trying to figure that out.
coolest 2: arming the GTC Aeolus (RTC Xander) with LRed beams, it destroyed the GTD Hecate (GTD Aquitaine) in less that 15 seconds.

Scariest: the end of trancedent; when the transcendant goes *boom* and the time compression is set down 0.25 (thinking "what now???")
Funniest: [at the end of Derlict:]

Alpha 2: And I'm gonna duck-tape that into my cockpit!
Wierdest: any subspace mission; my stomach does not like them at all ( has the worlds stopped turning yet??? :nervous:)

Second Most Funny: Duct Taping Commendations to my cockpit along with my fellow Alpha wingmates :P
Coolest: I'd have to say the Supernova mission. I'm sorry, but there's something epic about racing against a force of nature...
Wierdest: Transcend. Period. No not one part of it. All of it. I knew everything before it was going to happen. And it STILL wierded me out.
Scariest: The first time I heard the words "Dive dive dive, hit your burners pilot!" I had played FS2 all the way though up till that point. After I was rammed by the SJ #3, I went and took a shower and grabbed a change of clothes. <.<

Scariest was Transcend again, everything with the whispered voices in the nebulae.
Funniest was Derelict where the Nyarlathotep enters the subspace corridor, it did it it when the AWACS was self destructing and smashed right into it, the AWACS went spinning up away from the Lucifer exploding. Looked so good.

Now that Im using retail, I got back into BoE missions. I now know that I can fit 15 Colossi vs. 15 Sathanes. ;)
But now I have a headache because of the entire beam-free-all sequence.

And I do agree that "HELP ME!!!" is pretty scary. Not as scary as the OH S&#$ factor of having a Sathanas coming at you at 250 units per second/minute/hour, but pretty scary.

Having the Sath warp in is just a little shock, the HELP ME creeped me out. And notice that the Sath cant fire its BFReds at you, too, just 2 flak cannons.

Sure it can, it just won't, caus' of the AI and whatnot. -.- Though I've tested it in various missions... I think just about every fighter is wiped straight out with one BFRed. >.<

Besides, what kind of idiot makes Anti-Cap beams able to target fighters? Everyone who's not some stupid idiot would just skip every mission. :doubt:
Imagine, hey, I'm going to wipe out the cruiser, SGreen vaporizes you. Next try, must kill cruiser, SGreen kills you. Three tries later, ugh this is stupid, skips mission/stops playing. :doubt:

Actually, I've had more than once instance when a cap-ship beam aimed to hit me and not a cap-ship. Happened once in the Port, when the Lucy was attacking the Galatea. As always, I make a futile run against the Lucifer, in an attempt to knock out its beams. I wasn't even on a direct line between the 2 ships, when one of the Lucifer's beams suddenly fired out at a 45 degree angle and toasted me. Another time I was testing out C914's GTD Sirona and I had a Deimos make an attack against it. On more than one occasion, a TerSlash beam sliced me at the beginning of its swipe as it cut through the destroyer. Furtinately, I survived with a nick of health left.

ive ran into that problem. i created a mission and the sj fired its beam and 5 wings including me were destroyed meanwhile what the sj was attacking was deimos corvette and destroyedit , and as soon as the beam went throught it also destroyed 2 more fighters and another cruiser.
on the fs2 campaign i ran into the sath again and this is where the pheonecia was under attack, i was about to launch my helios when it killed me!.
i also ran into vasudan slash beams, orion green beam and 5 times in a row on that mission where collossus has to destroy the repulse, the refute fired its forward turret and killed me on sight.

Did you fire any bombs at it? There's a well-known bug where capital ship beams will sometimes target bombs. They shouldn't target fighters though.

Yes its not 100% identical. I made this thing years ago, when Freespace has been released, of some wooden parts I found somewhere. They just fitted so nice and I didnt want to work on them. I was young and had to much fantasy. ;)

Funniest: When the Sathanas jumps with you in front of it, and the pilot yells, "DIVE DIVE DIVE HIT YOUR BURNERS PILOT!!!"
Also, not moving so the Sathanas slams into you and you turn into a hood ornament. :D

Kind of have a bit of an update now, with some extra listings.
Coolest: Taking out 120 Shivans alone on Descent: Freespace.
Funniest: The "DIVE DIVE DIVE HIT YOUR BURNERS PILOT!!!" quote and the hood ornament thing.
Scariest: Going through so many missions on Derelict restricted to flying only the Myrmidon. (Not really... :D)
Weirdest: Seeing the Volition Bravos in subspace...
Most random: Alpha 2's constant ranting about duct tape.
Most angering: Flying the damn Myrmidons...

Reminds me about when i use to own the real fs1. That mission where you have to escort the transport holding the vasudan scientists that found the ancient ruins and how to destroy the lucifer...past the hol destroyer. Never an easy mission, that's the hardest mission in all of freespace. Only once did i fulfill all of the objectives without failing any of them. That mission is the only mission that makes me play it over and over again just because i want to get it right.
Anyway, after the transport was gone, the destroyer was like disabled, but it was spitting out fighters, and everyone else left. So it was just me flying an interceptor or apollo i think. And i just kept taking out all of the fighters that destroyer had to offer. I was having a hell of a time too. I mean it was too easy, i had to keep watching my ass nonstop. I kept on fighting all of these thoths and horuses. It was around when i reached 50 kills in that mission that i was like oh ****, i'm the only guy left, wtf am i still doing here? The rest of the mission had finished and i didn't know it. I was barely able to warp out alive. Scored myself 50kills in one mission from zods, and i didn't enjoy doing it either, zod fighters a lot more challenging than shivans, and at of my fs inexperience, i pulled off a miracle, but no it wasn't fun, so many times during the 50 kills that i nearly got blasted to ****.

Coolest: Getting 343 Kills in one single mission on multiplayer. (no joke)
Funniest: Killing noobs on co-op missions.
Scariest: The first time i played Into the Lions Den, I was extremely tired and it was like 5 in the morning, the first time i played the fs2 campaign i played it in the early morning...
Weirdest and Most random: The BDHR Beer mission (multiplayer)
Most angering: Flying myrmidons because their laser targeting is ****ed, the reticle isnt on target, it shoots a bit higher then the crosshair.

Strangley, the scariest for me WASNT when 'Into the Lions Den'. It was in the nebula, when that rakshasha 'repaiham' was making transmissions n stuff....
i dunno....i get the feeling that there will always be more to the shivans then the GTVA tells us. I mean, they caught some of the freaky little insects alive, they must've run some tests...

Reminds me about when i use to own the real fs1. That mission where you have to escort the transport holding the vasudan scientists that found the ancient ruins and how to destroy the lucifer...past the hol destroyer. Never an easy mission, that's the hardest mission in all of freespace. Only once did i fulfill all of the objectives without failing any of them. I believe that you're supposed to fly a bomber in that mission... Ursa is default. The biggest problem was protecting the Omega transports. I was usually so caught up in covering my own but, that I didn't notice the bombers jumping in and waxing the Omegas. Now I get in the habit of ordering a pair of fighters to guard each of the Omega transports. Then its just a matter of watching your own but, and disabling the Ptah (or was it the Anvil, I get this and that ST mission with the Giodanno mixed up) and then start knocking out turrets.

I decided, "Eh, screw the Ursa." and hopped in a Valkyre to take everything out before other allies could get to them.

Yeah, i always died on that mission if i flew anything but a fighter. I always said screw destroying the destroyer. I'd always assign the my wings to defend the bombers, the bombers died so fast all the time. Defending the transport was a piece of cake, i could always leave that thing alone until the bombers get deployed to take it out. Killing two amuns is really easy, after that the real threat for the transport is when it passes the destroyer. I've even disabled the weapons system on it, and it'd still hit that thing, just very badly.

Myrmidons are annoying, but their secondary gun bank has -FOUR- guns. Perfect against bombers and cruisers, especially considering it can load heavier missiles on, like trebuchets and pirahnas.

The entire campaign was easy if you load up with infinite Rockeyes (using the only legal cheat).

if you need cheats to get over 20 kills you truely do suck (no offense). Even when I first started playing the game I would get 15 kills per mission average. But then again, Multiplayer does differ from single player :P

In the entire campaign? I know on Very Easy I usually get around 1,200 kills total...500 of them being Hercules Mk I's... ::)

got a bomber and set course for good old lucy, -> got 3 times shot ... dead
didnt want to find another way so i just tried a forth time
again fighting all these little ants and killing the reactors, in the end like 3 badboys behind me, 1 wingman left
getting close the last reactor and BAAMM ... dead again :(:(:(
already wanted to restart immediately but there was still this big bomb flying that i fired 1 sec before
well 5 secs after it HIT and i WON .... though dead .... :D well ... was for mother earth ;7

Uh, no, combined from all the missions up to that point. Mystery of the Trinity has many wigns of Dragons, Manticores and Basilisks. All killed with Rockeyes.

Taking down a Diemos single handedly. :cool: Knocked out its turrets in the rear section of the ship, then unloaded into it with cyclops torpedoes.
