Meh, here it goes. Just a little something I'm working on and I plan to finish should a little mod of mine getting enough positive feedback for when I actually release Act 2...

Yes, but they only need to last as long as the contest. I'll check back to see if they're still there close to the deadline and replace them if necessary.

No, they don't. Assuming you win, they will need to last as long as the next month's newsletter lasts; and it isn't even guaranteed they will last a week.

If I did win, I imagine the picture would be grabbed and uploaded for the newsletter.
Anyway, the fact of the matter is I don't know how all that works, I never normally have need for such things. :)

Please upload them to a permanent host and edit your post to user image tags. It keeps the thread clean and uniform as IMG tags work nicer than attachments. Also, it's a good basic internet skill for you to learn. Check services like imageshack.

Ehhh, I don't like registering for things I don't need. If it's too much trouble then I withdraw the entry. It's not as if it would have won anyway once the heavy hitters arrive. It was just for fun.

Second that. I've finally downloaded the amazing screenshotting script so wait out for me ;7.
One question though, is it possible to change one's FOV? If so (I'm sure it is) how the hell am I going to do that? Thanks!

Yep, -fov command line parameter, set it in your launcher's custom flags section.

I just didn't find it totally necessary. All previously winning screens can be found on the Wiki page linked in this thread's first post as well as being able to find them in the Newletter threads.

I know. I still didn't find it necessary. Just go to the wiki page instead of searching for all the threads (because as this contest continues, that number will keep growing). But if you guys really want it, you'll have to bug Axem cause most of the past threads are his.

How do you expect to receive the signal to reactivate the ships if the comm node is down.

I am fond of that colour scheme. I look forward to the day when I can see those ships flying around on my screen. The black background just puts the emphasis on the ships, it's a really nice picture imo.

Could you try using [ img ] tags when posting pictures at such a low resolution ? The pixelisation is particularly hideous for normal-sized screens.

It's "GTD Ioli" aka "I need a superdestroyer" made by request by PeterV for ShadowGorrath. I promised to release it, but it has bunch of bugs, bad mapping etc. I will release it when I finish debugging it, but now... My modeller is not in condition to handle it :P

So here is the ultimate noob question. Im ashamed to ask it: how do i do screenshots?

Press Print Screen, get tga file in Freespace2/screenshots. You can then convert the screenshot to png jpeg or whatev using something like GIMP or IrfanView or whatever.
Alternatively, use a third-party software like FRAPS. The trial version will shoot bmps that you can convert to whatever afterwards.

Me, I just press print scrn, hit ctrl+alt+delete, open up Paint, and paste the shot in there. Then if I like it, I send it to My Pictures.
Oh and Shift+O gets the HUD off the screen.

Id recommend you just use Matth's method. Lorrics is a bit over complicated. If you need a program to open the TGAs, grab Irfanview. It's free and easy to use.

However, I didn't know about the screenshots. I thought I'd have a folder full of tga screenshots, but I don't. Just two old ones I didn't know about which I deleted. My Saga shots aren't here or any of my shots I took of my WOD campaign. The seperate mods don't seem to have a screenshot file.

This bug (http://www.hard-light.net/mantis/view.php?id=941) is already reported. (FSU: A step always ahead)
The MV_Assets.3612 VP gives the problem.
As for the screencap contest, a lot of people have partcipated (considering the previous months). Good work. :nod:
