in fact, it was a test for weapon effects, I think the result is good enough actually :)
-
nice. The trails on the missiles are smoke/opacity mapped cylinders, am I right? Also the engine glows could be less uniform, and there could be motion blur, but the rest is your usual :jaw: :jaw: :jaw:
[edit] I take that trail thing back, at least with the foreground missile. Should try that though someday.
-
thx :)
yeah, the thrusters need more work, some noise for exemple.
the missile trails are just your average particle emiters.
-
Not bad. Nice ship, fantastic smoke effects. What prog?
-
uhuh. One of the trails looked strangely like a phaser I was doing the other day. Anyway, keep up the good work.

Max4
edit: I've updated the pic, changed a couple details, removed a huge mistake nobody noticed (hehe)

:jaw: oh :jaw: my :jaw: god :jaw:

:yes2:nod:yes

Awesome! I especially like the lightning, and the bombs. The ships are fine, too.
Edit: :yes2::jaw::jaw::jaw::yes:

Cool, though one could wonder why only one of the bombs doesn't have a trail. ;)
-
coz it has just been dropped, the engine just ignited, therefore, no trail.

You can't drop anything in space:p

He meant it militaristicly, numb-nuts.
Besides, you can drop things in space. I could (in theory) fly up into space in orbit of Earth and drop a penny. It would immediately either go spinning off into space or have lost sufficient velocity upon droppage that it would blaze down to Earth and incinerate someones car.

Is there actually smoke in space? I guess there is, but I haven't seen any other render which has had smoke. :p

It's a Special Bomb[(tm). :)
-
Noyce. Mebbe a thruster on the top of the bomb "dropping" it, to give it technical accuracy.
-
nah, it's just a mechanical arm that "throws" it away so it reaches a safe distance from the fighter before the engine is ignited (would be bad to get destroyed by the missile you just launched, mmh? :D ). The missile is armed 2 seconds after ignition of the engine.
-
The best primary weapon effects I've yet seen. I'm used to flying Mike & Ikes. Great job!
If only those were Hercs... with Maxims... and a Lilith being ripped apart... ;7
-
I liked the effects like the missle trails and the lasers. But the design of those bombers needs more work I think.
-
more work?
I think it has way enough work...
her, why do people assume those are bombers and bombs anyway? they're not, they're fighters and missiles, damnit! :p

The design of those "fighters" makes us assume they are bombers. They are not sleek like fighters should be.:D

And those missiles look like bombs... :)

should be? Is there a rule? It's not Freespace, and I like my ships to be that way, with my own universe I'm free to do the things the way I like. I'm aiming more to a kind of "retro" design, somehow like WW2 fighters but in space. I don't see any reason why fighters should have to be slick in space anyway :p
If I am to make a bomber, believe me, you'll see the difference ;)
The missiles are very large for various reasons I don't feel like explaining now. They may not look like missiles coz they have no fins, but none of my missiles have fins (what for? useless mass, in space... ). get used to it ;)

her, yeah, why, you're in charge of that?

Kudos to Venom for some realism. Gotz to remember guys, in a vacumn there's no need for a fighter to be sleek. Streamlining doesn't do you any good, so speed is all about power/weight ratios. I've long contended that the admittedly somewhat ugly terran fighters from Babylon 5 may be the most realistic depiction of a space-fighter ever. What makes this a fighter instead of a bomber is the big friggin forward-directed main guns, and all that thrust off that big collection of engines that each of those things has. Thats some beautiful work man. I wish I could texture like that. Maybe someday....

Yeah... Setekh said I could update my own gallery a while ago. Now that he's gone, Shrike said I could do it for everyone now that Set is gone...

Oh, Moris13: at least one person who understands me ^_^
I feel less lonely :)

I'll update it later. Photoshop is being a *****.
"Cannot save the file sabrefire.jpg because the file is already open by another program."
It isnt....

Nice, my only comments would be to make the laser blasts less orderly. (i.e. staggered patterns like WWII bullets)
Also some lens flare/glare with the missiles and engines makes it seem more realistic.

How about we just say "released"?

Like he says, this is incredibly good work - that ship kicks major ass, well done :)

Well, I don't mean ugly quite so much as annoying. Lens flares are neat effects, but it makes the image a bit more personal when it seems like you're seeing it in person on as some sort of painting (even if it does not appear like one). I'm not sayin they can't be done right, but there is a definite place for non-lens flared images.

what aboput reading my posts following the one with the cursed "dropped" word in it? :p
Oh, thank you for putting it in the gallery :)
It occured to me that glows are not really realistic in space: not much dust, and in this case the pic is not really supposed to be a shot from another ship or anything, so no lense either.
Anyway, I'll probably forget about that realism stuff, coz when it's well done and not exagerated, glows looks neat ^_^
