For a mod that is obviously inspired by anime, I think cell-shading would work great for it, especially as it would help hide the fact the models and textures are low-quality.Don't say low quality, I made these assets with love.
You have a great game in the making. You may have to reintroduce cell; or be nicer to the "monkeys" and steal a few from them.Thanks :)
I have the 3.6.10 MediaVPs + PATCH installed, but placed a 3.6.8 cell ( without removing the other vps) to see what would happen. The new games won't work but older releases did. Cell shading looks cool. How ever I also like the realistic look. But as you said Its a new game and maybe you should go in your own direction and make a cell shaded universe. well that's my two cents anyway. Keep doing the good work on you game. Low poly, High poly or cell shaded - I look forward to playing it.

I am fond of that cute hud anis. You might feel bad for blowing them up or them getting destroyed by the enemy, since she appears to be a friendly and innocent character :P

In this case, it might help a lot. Given the low-poly nature of the ships, making them cell-shaded might give this a much-needed bit of graphical awesome.I've been putting a lot of work into effects.

To answer your question in the describtion of the open video: Yes this video comes very close to the opening sequences of Anime series. At least it is quite close in style to the Gundam SEED and Gundam SEED Destiny (don't know any other Gundam except "wing", which I saw on TV once and I'm qutie glad I forgot most of it by now) openers - not so much with serious stuff like Elfenlied though, but then it isn't supposed to go there anyway. Certainly better than the good old Saber Rider opener :lol: allthough that has "classic" bonus going for it.Gundam wing wasn't all That bad :p

So.... do you have any backstory for your universe finished? I love backstory and would really like to take a peek into it. Who are the characters, who do they fight, why do they fight them (an especially important point for me), what other factions are there besides the "good guys" and the enemy, ect....Its all finished... in my head. I still have to type it all down but I dread the task since I know it will take me forever to get it done (not because I type slowly but because I'm a poor writer and I will constantly be rephrasing sentences and looking up how to spell certain words in the online dictionary :P ). I'll throw up bits of background information here for your viewing pleasure once I've got it written down, though it won't include any information about the enemy (that's something that will be revealed through out the campaign)

Also because it is cute and we must preserve their cuteness by protecting their ships. Maybe it also makes the player try harder in protecting their ships because it brings out the sensitive side in the player hopefully and the player can't stand it if something unfortunate were to happen to those so called wide-eyed girls. By the way, it is anime, not wide-eyes. Bigger eyes is more accurate.

Most of the cast is between 19 and 28 year old, some are older.
Who says anime always has teenagers saving the world? Actually, if you watch the Japanese versions and not the English dubbed versions where they censor much of it, you will see that much of it is more grown up. Plus, anime characters (protagonists) come in all ages. Also, it is apparent that Japan has less censorship restrictions than the so called land of the free (gimmick). Try watching some Japanese subbed versions instead of English dubs where they censor so much out and even skip episodes. You can find them on youtube.Okay...just to nip this one completely in the bud, High Max, your "censorship" argument hasn't really been relevant since 1995 or so. With the relatively rare exception of companies like 4Kids, just about every anime series distributed in the US has received a completely-uncut release of some kind. And yes, anime does feature many instances of teenagers saving the world; your mileage may vary on how this particular trope affects you.

Somewhere along the way I missed the 1 year anniversary of me working on WoD
Being into a design process for so long does some odd things to the mind. I don't think I can ever play an other game again without trying to figure out they are achieving certain effects. or why the hell they decided to make certain decisions in gameplay design.
I also have to remind myself at several times that while a certain character may seem incredibly developed inside my mind, the players will only get to see what's in game (Three lines of text isn't exactly a wealth of character development :p :lol: ). Same goes for a lot of things though. I'm pretty tired of hearing the same music tracks over and over in test play runs, seeing the same models, the same .ani's. Almost to the point that I want to change them. But then I have to remind myself that it will be all new and shiny for the people playing it for the first time and that changing stuff like that is just feature creep that will only delay a release.
You people will probably breeze through the campaign within a day :p
Working on the very last missions now but it might still take an other month at this rate.

Its the particles on those swarm missiles I think.go into tables\mv_effects-wep.tbm and remove the "particle spew" flag from the @Skirmisher entry. See if that makes any difference, report back results.
My framerate crashes from 60+ to ~20 whenever one of those missile boats unleashes a volley :/

Using a high refire-rate weapon to blast right into a massive missleswarm.... that would be awsome.
