Re: the endless paths of modeling lego ships
You call it a science vessel, I think it looks more like it should be some kind of fuel freighter.

Re: the endless paths of modeling lego ships
Nice.

Can we get some more shots closer up perhaps?

I do get the science vessel look from being informed it is a science vessel, but personally I would have thought it looks more like perhaps a frigate of some kind.

But maybe it could be both. Who says a science vessel has to be a wimpy, fragile thing? They are important ships, why not have a science vessel be able to take care of itself to an extent? Maybe not a true warship, but considerably better equipped to defend itself and absorb punishment than some freighter?

Re: the endless paths of modeling lego ships
for closeup looks there is that P3D on the first page :D
as for the ship looking like a science vessel or not: everybody can of course use it as one sees fit, but the ship has no turrets :P

Looks sweet. Thanks!  :)
"We have now reached the point where every goon with a grievance, every bitter bigot, merely has to place the prefix, 'I know this is not politically correct, but...' in front of the usual string of insults in order to be not just safe from criticism, but actually a card, a lad, even a hero. Conversely, to talk about poverty and inequality, to draw attention to the reality that discrimination and injustice are still facts of life, is to commit the sin of political correctness. Anti-PC has become the latest cover for creeps. It is a godsend for every curmudgeon and crank, from fascists to the merely smug."

These are incredible. :jaw:

Two things:

First, could you possibly be convinced to model some of the official classic '90s Space sets? Space Police, Blacktron, Ice Planet?

Second: WHERE DID YOU GET THAT PYRO?

i have looked at some of the old classics, acutally that was how it all started, but in the end the ships created by people just look better most of the time :D in the end this is not about creating lego ships, just about creating ships who happen to be "inspired" by lego models

the pyro is in the wiki, i just created normal and team color maps for it

thanks for all the praise :)

Re: the endless paths of modeling lego ships
Sorry to bump, but i have found that team colours no longer work. The last build i got it working on was 3.7.2. Is this a table fix? If so what needs to get fixed?
Too many ideas.....not enough FREDing time!

Format of team color table entries shouldn't have changed; team glow maps were added, but that shouldn't break previously-working team color textures.

<MageKing17> "There's probably a reason the code is the way it is" is a very dangerous line of thought. :P
<MageKing17> Because the "reason" often turns out to be "nobody noticed it was wrong".
(the very next day)
<MageKing17> this ****ing code did it to me again

<MageKing17> THE REASON IS PEOPLE ARE STUPID

<MageKing17> God damn, I do not understand how this is breaking.
<MageKing17> Everything points to "this should work fine", and yet it's clearly not working.
<MjnMixael> 2 hours later... "God damn, how did this ever work at all?!"
(...)
<MageKing17> so
<MageKing17> more than two hours
<MageKing17> but once again we have reached the inevitable conclusion
<MageKing17> How did this code ever work in the first place!?

<@The_E> Welcome to OpenGL, where standards compliance is optional, and error reporting inconsistent

<MageKing17> It was all working perfectly until I actually tried it on an actual mission.

Thats weird then, because all these ships are coming up as grey and only grey.

Re: the endless paths of modeling lego ships
Made this recently. Took me a while to figure out, with the Hecate's hull design being... what it is, but I am pleased with the end result.
