hi i read in the faq page that wing commander saga will cost me nothing , well ok great but were can i get it? plz and thank you in advance:confused:

You can get it when it's released. The WCS team might be more inclined to hurry up if you use proper capitalization, pumctuation, grammar, and spelling ("plz" is not a word!). If a mod has no downloads, it's not finished yet.

look mester wool if i had any more gramer in my head i would have gave it to you with plasure but thats all the english i learned in the cheep school my poor father maneged to put me in so you dont expect me to go back to school just to post in your forum lol sorry i dint mean to speak in harch language dont get the rong sounds from my words and plz is a short cut and evry 1 knoes what it meand so whats the big deal man??

It's considered rude, to lash out on someone who politely tries to correct or introduce you to the customs of the forum.
HLP is somewhat sensitive about grammar (we even have our Grammar Inquisitor).
It usually only ammounts to avoiding "leet" speak pluss proper question marks and full stops.
BTW if you haven't had the oportunity to properly master the language, this is the best place to restart the effort.
We are free, polite (most of the time) and there are able members willing to help.
We had several members with poor grammar, but in a couple of months their efforts have paid off, to the point that their knowledge surpassed some of the "oldies".

There are no exact deadlines right now, but part1, the prologue, should be ready in about 1-2 months.

Yeah yeah .....I know, but the timing was never right. Back then when WC1&2 came out, I did not have a PC yet. And when WC3&4 were 'hot' I was busy playing TIE Fighter/XvT...and after that came FreeSpace and XWA to satisfy all my space shooter needs.
But I recently grabbed WC1&2 from HOTU, and while the concept of sprites in 3d space is a bit awkward, I'll eventually play it when I find enough time.

again am not lashing out on anyone sir evry word i wrote in my previous message was about me not about mister wool so i wanted just to explain my self to him i mean there is nothing rong with the good proper english spelling but belive me i dont know were to put the caps and the dots and the comas you dont sexpect me just to throw them around it wouldnt be right ether well i can use a dictionary to correct the wrods writing but that will take me hours to complete a message any way i dont see haw you can help me with english writting do you want me to pm you befor i post?? i mean i came here to playe not to study lol well actuly i speak some french too haw about if i post in french lol

What is your native language? Surely you know how to separate sentences? :wtf:
Even if you don't know how to spell, adding punctuation would be a huge help for anyone trying to read your post.

i dont know what the word punctuation is .. but you wold love to see me playing win commandr coz i had all there games and i spend years playing this usom game and by the way colonel fishguts said he got win c 1 and 2 from hotu what is that a web site? well actuly i lost all my game cds coz i gave them to my cosin in his bithday and now i regret it do u know were i can grab them on the net i mean shurly there abandon wear now . and please tell me what the word punctuation means and i will try to look it up

yes i know haw to organize sentences but i have problem with expecting what letter is comming next i mean why we say right
not rit why the g letter or like the word like why we put e in the end why its not lik in arabic we right only letters that we say:ha:

Maybe you should try to write the words in their full length
You -> win commandr
should be -> Wing Commander
punctuation -> means that you set a -> . or ? or ! <- at the end of your sentances.
Well my own english isn't the best, but at least I try ^_^

I'm not sure how much this'll help, but this is how I'd punctuate/ spell the above. You seem to be fine at reading english, at least. (comments in italics)

I don't know what the word punctuation is... ('means' might be a bit better to use here, instead of 'is') but you would love to see me playing Wing Commander, because I had all their ('there' and 'their' have different meanings; 'their' denotes ownership, i.e. 'that game was theirs', 'there' denotes a location 'my coat is over there') games, and I spent years playing this awesome (I think that's what you meant) game.
(NB: this sentence is getting a bit long, so I'm breaking it up - think of full stops - '.' - as being breaks between speaking, and commas - ',' - as being shorter pauses)
By the way, Colonel Fishguts said he got WC1 and 2 from HOTU - what is that, some kind of web site? [/i]('?' has the same function as a full stop, except it also denotes a question. You can sort of view it as the tone of someones voice between a statement and asking a question)[/i]
Actually (dropped the 'well', both it and 'actually' have the same meaning here), I lost my game cds because I gave them to my cousin on his birthday and now I regret it. (New sentence here; moving onto a different subject / topic) Do you know where (not were) I can grab them on the net; surely they're (note the ' ; this means they're is short for 'they are') abandon-ware now?
Also, (it's generally considered bad to start a sentence on an 'and', athough it's done by most people anyways) please tell me what the word 'punctuation' means and I will try to look it up.

Incidentally, punctation is what 'breaks up' english (and other langauge using this script type) sentences correctly; for example, having capital letters to start sentences or for names (or places), also the use of characters such as punctuation marks such as commas (,) or full stops (.). This helps break up the flow of text into something similar to how it would be heard when spoken; and in turn helps the brain understand it (for a native speaker, at least).
Incidentally, you can look up the meaning of words on google by typing 'define:' followed by the word as the search subject. i.e. define: punctuation gives this (http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=define%3A+punctuation&sourceid=mozilla-search&start=0&start=0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official)
Oh, and sometimes we (HLP members) are far too hard on non-native speakers... it's fair enough is someone should know better, but if someone is new to the language, then surely we should try and help, not just criticise.
EDIT; try typing 'HOTU' into google.

However, if you could use MS Word to control you grammar, it would generally improve the overall quality of your post. Just a suggestion. :)

actually,yes admiral i will use the online dictionary from now on, i think i wasted most of my time playing games and i didnt leave enough time for my studys ,lol but no need to make you the victime i guess , so i fixed the spelling of this message,i hop you like it. and i wait forward to playe the wing commander saga so we can have more things to talk about, but take your time because am not in a hurry, and the reason is: i just found this place and i didnt playe the project yet or the free space 2, so am still downloading them am sure they will keep me busy for some time. and i just installed the earth minbari campain and i must say its outstanding game and better than i expected as a free ware. actually i was playing wing commander thinking they are the only game out there but i was rong am having great time with this one .:yes:

have you tried Wing Commander Standoff? It is an excellent freeware game, based on the Wing Commander Prophecy engine.
Oh, and you won't need FS2 in order to play Saga

no i didn t know about wing commander standoff. thank you sir for this great information, i will download it now . and i want to download fs2 anyway because i didnt playe it at first place and olso becouse i want to playe TBP realse one and 2. so finding your website is like finding treasure island for me lol.

do not forget that you need Secret Ops core package to play the game. There is also Unknown Enemy, another Wing Commander mod. Finally, I believe, that TBP R3 is standalone.

The latest release from TBP was a standalone pack.
The corepack for Secret Ops should be availble form the CIC pack or the Standoff/UE packes I think.

i as wondering about somthing , when i downloaded tbp it was about more than 200 mb, well i think then ok ,most of the hard work is in those 200 mb, then i downloaded the single missions and it was only about (762 kb). i mean that is realy a small file and it had 9 missions in it, (more than the main campain) and 2 multy player, thats 11 missions .and i was woundering why the game is so short? i mean it must be eazy to make 100s of those missions in about 10 mb file. why is all the babylon 5 games is not more than 4 or 5 missions can some one tell me ??:ha:

because i am writing on our main campaign featuring 48 missions. Have been writing on the scripts long before release 1 came out.
However, the scripts are nearing completion ( early April ) and then the campaign gets done. You will learn to stand in astonishment.

Their are two simple reasons why it can be short.
First you have to write a story for the mission, something that gives the entire thing some substance. Places to go to, characters that are belivable and so on...its a long progress writing it.
Next thing is to get all the stuff that is written down into a mission...means you not only have to make a good story, but you also have to balance everything so its still playable and the prog can do it.
I mean you can easly write down a big fleet battle with thousends of ships, but I want to see you FREDing the mission...or even get it running.
All in all its a not that easy to do...the filesize dosn't speak for the work that is in it....if that would be so the mission would probaply be some 100mb big ^_^

I have to admit that our prologue will feature only 5 missions. The full game will include around 40 missions (20 are more or less done)

Those single missions take time - a lot of time if they're to be good - and they need the 200mb (or at least a decent amount of it) to have been finished in order to be made.

ok . i get it . the hard work is not only the base files but the casting and making . ok that make sence i have to say all bayblon 5 games are great .but for me i will not download any 200 mb demo from now on becose i have a 56 kps modem. i mean tbp3 is ok becose it has 2 campains thats about 10 missions and 9 single missions + 2 multy player and some good fan made missions so the game rocks .
by the way mister skullar i think you are talking about tbp (the 48 missions in april? is that correct? if it was so i want to ask you : would that need a new base download or it will work on relase 3. i know this is saga forum but please tell me. and i want to ask you olso about tbp relase 1 and 2 . in realse 3 read me file it says that realse 1 and 2 campains and missions will be available as relase 3 compateble . is that comming soon becose i dont think i will try to download the massive core files again thank you.

in case of Wing Commander Saga the final release will not be compatible with the demo version, and even if it will be, the difference in download size will not be very significant. The reasons are obvious:
-new interface art
-new movies
-a lot of models (prologue includes only essential models)
-voice acting (for the five prologue missions we have recorded almost 1 hour of audio)
-additional mission backgrounds
-etc
The prologue clocks at 200 mb, the final release will be around 400 mb (only aproximate size - all I know that my current install takes almost one GB of space on my hdd)

Please move the TBP discussion to the TBP forum from now on, let me give you a short answer :
- older campaigns need to be converted so they work with release 3.0
- The big campaign ( will not come before late 2005 ) will be a CAMPAIGN download that bases on the core stuff. You wont need to download core3.0 again , most likely just the updates to the latest core version. by then it will be 3.2 or 3.3
