I uninstalled the Inferno mod, though it still uses the inferno main menu, and won't let me play FS2Open when I have mediavps activated. I am running Windows Vista, and am using FS2Open 3.6.9. Thanks in advance for help.

It seems like you have still a couple of the inferno related files in your freespace directory. You could start with searching for .vp files from your main freespace directory as well as from the data directory. As most of those files are still required by the freespace open post a list of them here before removing any of them.

I'm curious. What do you mean by "uninstalling" Inferno? And where did you originally install it? As Wanderer said, you obviously still have Inferno files somewhere, most likely in the \freespace\ folder. Moving them to their own subfolder \freespace\inferno\ should solve the issue.

your freespace folder should look pretty much like this
(http://homepage.ntlworld.com/karajorma/FAQ/FAQ-Images/Installing/CleanFSOInstall.jpg)

concentrate on the .vp files, if you have any .vp file that is not in that image move it out and check if that solves the problem.

PS: that image is from karajorma's faq linky (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/karajorma/FAQ/intro.html) and it's a bit old, so just concentrate on the vp part of the image, someone should make a picture of a clean and updated fso install... mine is a bit dirty for that

The problem with a clean FSO folder (and the main reason why I didn't put up a picture of one) is that the filenames are likely to change for the FSO Executables and they're really the only difference from the picture that is up there).

Nope. I only have the proper .vp files in my folder. I even tried a clean install of FS2. Still doesn't work. I deleted all my old FS2 files, but it still doesn't work. Now what?

Hmm. What about the mediavps folder? And check \freespace\data\tables and all the \freespace\modname\data\tables folders for some extra table files. There is definitely an extra file lurking around somewhere.

That's not a retail mission. You definitely have something in that folder you shouldn't have. Run a search for *.vp, *.fc2 and *.fs2 and tell me what you find.

I don't know, I deleted FS2, then reinstalled it completely (Which doesn't bother me, I just started doing the campaign over again). I'm good. Sorry. But it fixed it!
