I'm in the progress of making a WoD forum game for kicks and funs. The basic idea is that each player takes control of one fleet and together try to stave off the invading hierachy fleets. With new turns happening every 2-3 days.
I'll go into more detail as everything solidifies but right now I'm trying to get a grasp on how many people would be willing to take part in this.
-
I am unclear on what you mean, but you know I love Wings of Dawn.
-
Show me dhem Cordera basterds! (This could be fun.)
-
Can't really imagine how this will work but ... Count me in!
-
I iz curious. I'm in.
-
Ah, what the heck, count me in, that could be fun. I've been without any WoD-related action for too long.
-
I'm interested. I'd prolly be playing either Terrans or the Zy. Maybe Hertak if I'm allowed to. :D
-
I have no idea what Spoon is talking about, but since its related to Wings of Dawn, I'm in.
-
Does it involve dice rolls? XP
-
Well why not.
-
Indeed, I will take part.
-
Stop, Stop! Too much interest!
-
Okay so I did not expect this much interest! So let me expand a bit more on how this will play out:
Here's the starmap on which the game takes place. The Hierachy will bring in fleets from Kardoen and invade with the end goal being Sol. You, the players, will each take control of one Terran fleet (5 factions, each with some slight differences) and coordinate with each other to repel the alien invaders.
New turns will be each 3 days, each new turn there will be reports on fleet movements and how battles went (yay for embedded youtube support). Then you'll be able to give new orders to your fleet. Perform excellently and you might get promoted, giving you a choice for a new trait that will improve your fleets performance. Make no mistake, the Hierachy will be relentless and your ability to resupply your fleet to keep it in fighting condition will depend on the global resource pool available. See that number next to a star system? That's how much resources a system is able to contribute to the wareffort. Losing those key systems will hurt and will have negative effects on fleet morale.
More info and instructions on how to actually play will follow once I have completely worked out all the details (and have confirmed it actually works).

I am very much interested in this Spoon!
So we get a fleet each and give orders then you control the enemy fleets and set up and fight the battles or something and upload the footage to youtube, is that how this is going to go?
Fleet Admiral Lorric reporting for duty, SIR! :D
-
Prepare to be crushed, LSF scum! (What!? OpFor is important.)
-
I'm interested - Count me in. :p
-
Sounds neat. +1 participant.
-
Consider me interested. I'm in.
-
I`m in too :D
-
(crawling out of bed)
I'm In, see my waving hand?
Looking good Spoon!
-
I'll take a scoop out of this ice cream too, Spoon.
-
While I love the high amount of response to this, I'm afraid there's only going to be room for like 13 players (at first).
-
What about dividing fleets into smaller independent units? Too difficult?

I'll look into it.
-
Cue a wave of new people. Then you'll have to break it down again. Maybe we'll all have one ship each when it's over... :D
-
If the player queue gets too big, cut me out Spoon. I'd rather not cause you another headache. :p
Your game has inspired me for something else though, so I still get something out of this whole thing.
-
Rght now I'm leaning toward increasing the map size a bit, limiting the amount of fleets in one system and maybe have new turns be twice a week.
-
Are you able to give us any more insight into how this is actually going to work?
-
Did my headcount, seems there's around 17 or so people as of this post. I'm guessing it won't be 17 in the end. From personal experience, it'll be more than likely less.
-
I intend to sit back and mock people for bad choices, and snark when the Space Elves purge those nasty humans into committing non-violence.
But yeah forum games can get hectic, so I'm going to let other people play who have the madness and effort to dominate one another. But I look forward to the development f this forum game.

It's co-op multiplayer, not PvP I think. If it's PvP, I won't want to play, though like you, I'll take an interest in watching events unfold.
I don't see how PvP could work anyway. Both sides would be able to see the others' plans.

Yes. This is just us forumites trying to hold off the endless waves of Hierarchy fleets and keep them from Sol.
