Title: The INF SCP Status Thread
Post by: Rampage on February 02, 2007, 03:10:55 am
I've decided to clean up this post to give mission status updates only.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mission Progress:

C01M01 - Done, by Sid
C01M02 - Done, by Rampage
C01M03 - Done, by Rampage
C01M04 - Done, by Rampage
C01M05 - Done, by Rampage
C01M06 - Done, by Rampage
C01M07 - Done, by Rampage
C01M08 - Done, by Rampage
C01M09 - Done, by Rampage
C01M10 - Reworking, by Sid and Rampage
C01M11 - In Progress, by Rampage
C01M12 - Conceptualized, by Rampage
C01M13 - Conceptualized, by Rampage
C01M14 - Conceptualized, by Rampage
C01M15 - Conceptualized, by Rampage
C01M16 - Conceptualized, by Rampage
C01M17 - Conceptualized, by Rampage
C01M18 - Conceptualized, by Rampage
C01M19 - Conceptualized, by Rampage
C01M20 - Scripted, by Sid and Rampage

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Missions listed as "done" will be included in the final campaign w/o many changes.

The campaign will be split into three chapters (ideally speaking).  Chapter 1 will deal w/ finishing up the war w/ the EA and the reintroduction of the Shivans.  Chapter 2 will deal w/ encountering the Gigas and some never-before-seen Shivan tech (will not disclose)!  Chapter 3 will be thought out in detail after Chapter 2 is underway.  The traditional mission count was supposed to be 60, but for realism's sake, I'm thinking of shrinking that down to around 40.

This may be a stupid question, but what is the E.T.C. for INFSCP, because I just finished R1 and the suspense is killing me!
Title: Re: The INF SCP Status Thread
Post by: Snail on November 09, 2007, 09:48:08 pm
INFSCP has nothing to do with INFR1.
Title: Re: The INF SCP Status Thread

Dang  :hopping:
Title: Re: The INF SCP Status Thread
Post by: Snail on November 09, 2007, 10:05:00 pm
Well INFSCP retells the story of INFR1 to an extent. It's set in a completely different universe, but similar events unfold. So the first Chapter that will be released of INFSCP will be very similar to R1. Think of Inferno SCP and Inferno Release 1 as parallel universes in which there are slight differences.

BTW,
Rampage hasn't been around for a month and the progress list hasn't been updated for 4 months. Is any progress on the main mod being made at all, or is INFASA the only thing which is progressing?

(rest assured INFASA is progressing ;))

man, I am still dying for this mod *dreaming of an half - FS3 kind of thing*. R1 was good and captured the feeling of FS2, but I never liked the simple story telling (concerning Briefings, ...).

Where has Rampy Rampage been?

Yeah, the simple plot bugged me too... INFSCP will have a much more developed plot.

Where has Rampy Rampage been?

What's wrong with Rampy? :P

Is is only my imagination or Woomeister is silent for long??

Yes, he's been a lot less active (maybe he got a girlfriend or a job...) The senior Inferno staff haven't been to active lately but as for me... :D

You're senior staff? Anyway, is the INFA team going to shift to INF SCP after INFASA/INFA2 are done?
Title: Re: The INF SCP Status Thread
Post by: Snail on November 16, 2007, 02:28:53 pm
You're senior staff?

No. I'm a senior fanboi. "As for me" should probably be "As for the INFA staff..."

Anyway, is the INFA team going to shift to INF SCP after INFASA/INFA2 are done?

Maybe, but that prolly won't be 'till 2009 or something.
Title: Re: The INF SCP Status Thread
Post by: colecampbell666 on November 16, 2007, 02:35:18 pm
It's kinda aggravating how deadlines keep getting moved back. Don't get me wrong, I know that everyone has a life and that this is something that they do voluntarily, but it's depressing. Just in January Rampage said that INF SCP would be out by year's end. I hereby name this phenomenon ST:R Syndrome. Or should that be BWO Syndrome? Or INF SCP Syndrome? Or...

*Note: None of this was intended to be taken as insulting, sarcastic (except for the last bit), or anything else bad. I'm simply expressing my disappointment.
Title: Re: The INF SCP Status Thread
Post by: Mobius on November 16, 2007, 02:49:32 pm
You're not completely wrong. I actually dislike the fact that many teams share the best modders, modellers and coders when others work solo.

I'm not authorized to talk about private stuff concerning INFA, but I can guarantee that a coder or a FREDder would be welcome(look at the most recent threads create by me and Snail...).

http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,50343

INFA and INF SCP share only Woomeister(and Sadistic Sid, who is unactive)!
Title: Re: The INF SCP Status Thread
Post by: Retsof on November 16, 2007, 05:58:47 pm
I may be able to do a little FREDing,... unless it uses too many other models than Inf R1, in that case, I'd have to download them on my next trip to the library.  Uhhh, wait a minute, the last mission I took seriously took a loooong time to build.  Oh right, that's cause I was distracted with several new-to-me campaigns that needed playing.
Title: Re: The INF SCP Status Thread
Post by: colecampbell666 on November 16, 2007, 07:03:39 pm
INF SCP uses almost no INFR1 models, and the ones it does are almost completely HTL. You'd need big internets to download it all.
Title: Re: The INF SCP Status Thread
Post by: Woomeister on November 17, 2007, 04:13:39 am
INF SCP has very few HTL models. You might be thinking of INFA.
Title: Re: The INF SCP Status Thread
Post by: colecampbell666 on November 17, 2007, 07:53:08 am
No, but in the screenshot thread most models look pretty HTL, and from what I'd heard I though that they were.

Even still INF SCP uses almost no INFR1 models, right?

There's still some there but they have been upgraded a bit.

The Iblis, Darkness...What else?
Title: Re: The INF SCP Status Thread
Post by: Snail on November 17, 2007, 02:13:31 pm
The Iblis ain't being used no more.

The ones shared are:

The Keres, Alves, Danaus, Jotun, Banshee, Alcyone, Phobos, Alexandria, Boreas, Warlock, Icanus, Melia, Peregrine, Gagana, Tereus, Apis, Ennead, Petbe, Cairo, Scorpion, Gorgon, Chimera, Durja, Vindhyachal, Raguel, and Kismat...

All of the capital ships and some of the fighters and bombers are heavily modified with new turrets and other stuff, like remapping. From that list, all the Terran and EA fighters and bombers except the Jotun are now cockpitted. Some may have already been phased out and they didn't make it public yet.

EDIT - Don't forget Hara.

I don't think the INFA2 campaign will be released with INFA SA. No, wait...it won't be released with INFA SA :P

Qwer has rejoined the active members of the team. I will be able to work again in two days, Real LifeTM has been expecting a lot of things from me for a while :)

Real LifeTM indeed.  Since I stopped posting here on a regular basis, I've been working 14+hrs at a law firm in New York City.  And I'm waiting to hear back from medical schools regarding my admission status.

Go back and reread Rampage's post again.  Pay particular attention to the context.

Spoiler provided below for those whose reading comprehension has atrophied due to exposure to the US public skool cistern.

Spoiler:
He is saying he's super busy, which implies that INF SCP will not be out for a very long time.  So INFA2 had better come out first, because if it comes out after INF SCP, people will be waiting a very long time for it.

You'll have to wait a long time anyway. "INFASAR1CH1" goes slowly right now. :p
Title: Re: The INF SCP Status Thread
Post by: colecampbell666 on December 26, 2007, 08:05:36 am
He means that he is relatively the only one working on SCP, and since INFA has some semblance of a team, that they should release first.
Title: Re: The INF SCP Status Thread
Post by: Snail on December 26, 2007, 08:44:46 am
Do you think I'm stupid and that I was exposed to the US public skool cistern? I know exactly what I meant.

INFASA and INFA2 would have been released before INF SCP anyway. What's the point releasing the prologue after the climax? Oh, wait, ask George Lucas.

Seriously, I requested the recruitment of at least one FREDder more than...thrice. We need someone able to work on 3+ missions. If Woo would let me I would do so for some of the INFASA ships (with TDs).

I would like to do the same, even with WIP missions.

Not true. Expect to hold it for several years.

Since INF SCP is more or less freezed, INFA1 SA is what interest me much and INFA2 (coz it contain my beloved EA) even more. Any progress on those two? Any? Please?
Title: Re: The INF SCP Status Thread
Post by: Snail on February 22, 2008, 04:36:15 pm
Progress goes slowly, but the main campaign is nearly finished. We just need to add a few other missions, do a final bug hunt and then INFASA can be released. (not INFA2 mind you).

If I were to add the required mediavp material to Twist of Fate, would it be usable in INF:ASA without changes?

Also, if you want I have some shiny sexy SCP versions of the FS1 weapons I made for Twist of Fate that I could give you guys. The FS1 weapons look like hell compared to the newer stuff.

No. Only pure campaigns (just missions and voice acting) will work without modification on INFASA. Since we've renamed all the models (instead of fighter01.pof we have INF_Ulysses.pof) it's quite difficult to port things over if you're not used to the procedure. FSPort campaigns are quite easy to port (since they use .tbms) but they still need to be modified in order to work properly.

INFASA is not terribly compatible but it's still relatively easy to port things over.

Also, if you want I have some shiny sexy SCP versions of the FS1 weapons I made for Twist of Fate that I could give you guys.

That would be cool, but Woomeister would ultimately have to authorize it.

Welcome to the HLPBB!!! :D

The changes/implementions are quite impressive, really. I continuously claim that even one more FREDder might be enough to complete the campaign in a few but we can get the job done even without additional help(the delay wouldn't be favorable, anyway).

That would be a compliment :P

As Snail said, let Woomeister know about them :)

INF:A is now avaliable from Filefront.

"Set in the Sol system after the collapse of the jump node to Delta Serpentis. Inferno: Alliance Standalone sets the ground for the formation of the EA when the systems two largest powers, Earth and Mars begin a war for control of the system."

This release will completely replace the Inferno Alliance package released in late 2006. Included is high-level FREDding from both me and Mobius, as well as great new weapons and high-poly versions of many of our ships.

This is a standalone release, so if you don't have FS2 installed on your computer there is no need to worry. Simply add the files into anywhere you like (not a root folder as it will cause problems).

The Release thread is here (Don't worry, no links cause of that damn prank :doubt:):
http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,53064.msg1072528.html

There's an online version of the included readme file here:

I think he decided to pull an April Fool's prank on us. The INFA site is unchanged, and the release thread is rickroll-tastic.

The problem with pulling a prank at the exact moment he did is, we're not all in Europe and thus the date shows up as March 31st to many of us, since he's 6 hours ahead.

Damnit Snail...  :ick:

I fell for it. Everything is all rickroll-ified and name-switchefied here, even though right now it's 8am

p.s. why can't a moderator just edit it themself?

He posted his the day before AF, so I assumed it was clean. And it doesn't kill it, just fills the HDD.

Strange comment. Me and Snail will help INF SCP as soon as we're done with INFA2.

And you talk as if working on INFA is a waste of time and/or something that gives no results. That's incorrect.

INF SCP is not dead, it's hibernating. INFASA and INFA2 take priority.

I'll sooner be dead than INF SCP is.
