Release: Effects DB
As promised, here's the EffectsDB. This should contain pretty much every effect ever made by the former HLP community since I started visiting a long time ago.

Offline for permanent maintenence.

Re: Release: Effects DB
Thanks for all the work in putting these together!  I find this a great help.  Perhaps just split up the skyboxes??
If a man consults whether he is to fight, when he has the power in his own hands, it is certain that his opinion is against fighting.

Re: Release: Effects DB
Aye, thanks! :) Yeah I'd guess I have to split the skyboxes up, and the 3D enviroments as well... :sigh:

Re: Release: Effects DB
Did you try uploading the skybox archive on FSFiles? If that doesn't work either, either split it up or try another hoster.

Re: Release: Effects DB
I'll split the archives and upload them tommorow, I'd prefer MediaFire over SG for I can update the files myself in case something is wrong, but thanks for the advice. :)

Skyboxes added.

Maybe I'm confused -- there are some skybox folders such as Mars-Orbit with two bitmaps "MarsBack" and "MarsFarBack".  Are these meant to replace the back bitmap of another skybox?  Is there aspecific generic skybox they go with?

Yes, I'm sorry about the lack of documentation, but this has been built up over several years and I lost oversight a bit... :nervous:
The reason is that they replace only 1 part of another Skybox - in the case you mentioned MilkyWay5. Since they take a lot of space I didn't want to include the other parts again.
However, I left the remarks which part of the skybox is replaced (hopefully - I apparently haven't on those in the CelestailOrbits folder :banghead: ), for example MarsBack and MarsFarBack both replace MilkyWay5Back. Most, if not all of them are either related to MilkyWay5, or can be used with one from the generic StarField folder. Those in the "VasudaPrime"-folder are related to "System-Vasuda".

This is a really awesome release, thanks for putting this together, Nightmare. Did you ever get around to compiling the weapon effects?

Ahhhh.... Yep. :) I haven't forgotten about it; but I'm somewhat busy doing something for Scroll. I try to finish it next week.

Awesome, I look forward to them. :)

A bit late but I added Beams, Weapons, Weapon Impacts, Trails and Ship Engines. :)

Should be complete now, kinda. I'll see what I can upload besides that.

Nightmare,
I am a bit hard pressed to find the credits for the effects I'm now using in the Memories of the Great War-core package. Do you have a directory of some kind?
"As you sought to steal a kingdom for yourself, so must you do again, a thousand times over. For a theft, a true theft, must be practiced to be earned." - The terms of Nyrissa's curse, Pathfinder: Kingmaker

==================

"I am Curiosity, and I've always wondered what would become of you, here at the end of the world." - The Guide/The Curious Other, Othercide

"When you work with water, you have to know and respect it. When you labour to subdue it, you have to understand that one day it may rise up and turn all your labours into nothing. For what is water, which seeks to make all things level, which has no taste or colour of its own, but a liquid form of Nothing?" - Graham Swift, Waterland

"...because they are not Dragons."

That's a bit difficult for 2 reasons:
1. I'm a couple thousand km from my FS install from where I can check which effects you're using (for 1 or 2 more days).
2. Most mods don't provide credits for "who made what" in the first place when it comes to effects, only generic lists of people who worked on them.
