Dear HLP,

Recently, I created a new youtube account (I forgot my previous one's password), and felt the urge to my past hobby of attempting to create crossover vids.

This time I've got a new endeavour: dub the Battle of Endor battle scene from Star Wars (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGMvadAFqLQ) with ingame voice chatter and sound effects from FreeSpace 2.

The video itself is not finished yet (heck, I'm not even currently halfway) and will still require a lot of polishing. However, let me reveal to you my tentative plans for this project.

Note: I pretty much forgot the Star Wars movies, since it's been a time since I last watched them, so please forgive my ignorace on some names.

First of all, I'd like to list the "cast" of this video - whose voice plays who:

CHARACTER               VOICE
Admiral Ackbar --        Terran Command (lol he's pretty much like Command except he's not omnipresent)
Lando Calrissian --       Snipes
Wedge Antilles (pilot with orange suit right?) -- Wingman 1
"Green Leader" (does he even have a name?) -- Wingman 3 (note: Wingman 2 is female, and there ain't any female pilots in BoE)
Nien Nunb -- Untranslated Vasudan voice (I don't even know what the hell he's talking about, so I pick Zod. Numb = Fishface)

So far, those are the main characters with voiceovers revealed.

Also, I plan on making Rebel ships with Allied weapons sound effects, and Shivan sound effects on Imperial ships (TIE fighters always remind me of Dragons). Death Star's superlaser is based on Beam Cannon sounds. Explosions, flybies, weapon impacts, etc. are all based on FreeSpace sounds.

I expect that it might take 2 weeks of work to finish the video, so please be patient.

Note: This vid isn't to be taken too seriously...after all, it may be fun to hear Lando say "these detonators are...*thinks a while*...a piece of junk!")

So this is just really for the...





...though it depends on your perception.

EDIT: Many of you might not rate it as a "comedy" vid, but some slight comedic taste will be applied upon it, sometimes unintentionally (e.g. Snipes (Lando) may sometimes say unfit lines, making it slightly funny to hear. Laugh at the mistakes. It's part of it.)

I'm not quite sure I follow...

You want to use the visuals from the BoE, and add sound clips from Freespace over them. Do I have that right?

Hrrm. I think it may have had more of an impact if you have done if first, and then said "hey look at this thing I did" rather than announce it first and promising it'll be done later. Personally... I'm not sure how I feel about this at this time. I'm apprehensive.

How about posting part of the video in a regular basis? Is that fine for you, or would you rather see the finished product?

@Scourge of Ages: Yes, that's what I mean...replace dialogue and sound effects with FS ones. However, I plan to retain the music, since it simply fits perfectly.

The first quarter of the vid will be posted on youtube tomorrow, if not today. I'm posting only the 1st 2 minutes so you may get the idea and I may receive constructive criticism.

Right now I'm having a minor problem; I've used Ulead for this, and if you drag two audio files next to each other, there will be a "biting" sound in between. How to get rid of this?
