So am I the only one, or does any one else feel that with Volition laid a few turds with their capital ship designs? Some they totally nailed so it balances out happily for me however:

- Lucifer: Is this an ant with it's 4 hind legs ripped off?
- Typhon: All I can ever think of is a dead bull-squid from half life
- Colossus: This just feels like a missed opportunity to me, especially considering the Hecate looks so sophisticated and "out of the ashes of the GTD." In a full-bright environment where you can spin it around, it can look OK, but I think that from some angles it really has a crappy shape/silhouette. Maybe the size of it just restricted the polycount too much? 
- Hades: I kinda like this, but the texturing just clashes horribly. I understand that it's supposed to be a fusion of Terran/Shivan, however the texture just feels like a bad photoshop job to me.

On the other hand:

- Orion: This is pure Terran awesomeness
- Demon: I still feel like the Demon looks a scrunched up, but I've always seen it as living in the shadow of the Lucifer, so that kinda fits its personality
- Hecate: I love this ship
- Ravana: Very nice
- Iceni: Looks a bit small and weak but I've always like to think of it as the Hecate's evil little brother
- Hatshepsut: It reminds me a lot of a vacuum cleaner, but I still think it kicks ass
- Sathanas: This is the pinnacle of Volition's capital ship design, outstanding

I don't feel this way about any of the other ships. I think made all the Cruisers, Corvettes and single-man craft perfectly. There are a few transports and freighters that look a bit boring, but those kinds of ship are supposed to be
 
What I'm getting at, I think, is how would the community feel about a "Reborn" version of certain capital ships? Obviously I would love to make the originals awesome rather than totally redesign, and I'm not a modeller, texturer or anything-else-er so it's easy for me to post this and complain.

Are there any models that people agree would just plain look better with a bit of excessive tweaking and chopping and gluing?

Ok, now I know you know nothing about pretty ships ever, the Hecate looks like a kitbash of random parts, a skull head, elephant ears, shark fins, lego blocks, etc. It doesn't look like a warship, let alone a ship at all.

The ravana reminds me of some kind of hand blaster, and it even fit's it's use Hit and kill in 1 strike.

Yes and they definitely sexify things, put some of them really are polishing turds in my opinion.

I dunno what it is, every space game I look at, capital ships just look beefy, heroic, dominating and many designs just "make sense" like when you hear a song that's really awesome and you think "Yeah this song just wrote itself." Some of the Volition capships just look like they took a bad idea and tried to make it work rather than scrap it and start again.

No, not really. The Lucifer looks like a legless, malevolent lobster without antennae (it has them with the MEDIAVPS). Thank you, Axem, very much, for making me get the perfect match for the Lucy (there's a mission in JAD where it's referred to as a "Demon Lobster").

IMO it looks like a tough nut to crack. Its hull looks very heavily armored, really.

I actually love the design of the Hecate. I don't now why everyone likes the Orion so much to be honest; I guess I just never really got the 'block of rock' thing that everyone likes to say here. It never looked particularily powerful to me. Meanwhile on the Hecate, everything is inflated in a way; sorta like that Typhoon/Hurricane thingamagig that got released recently. The engines, the turrets, everything is almost cartoonishly bulging with power. If only it wasn't tabled to be ****E.
