[Mega Man X]

Hello, I'm new here and I need some help...

Ok, I'm on the last leg of the orginal Free Space missions and I am on the mission where I need to protect the Bastion(sp)..the only problem is...I keep getting my ***  handed to me every time I try.

Any good strats on how to beat this mission? TY,

Haven't played that one for a while...here's my best guess as to how I beat it.

Have Alpha protect you, everything else protects Bastion.

Alpha 1 targets anything targeting bastion, especially bombers & their bombs.

Your wingmen keep the enemy fighters off your back.

Every once in a while, fire a few volleys at the Demon.

Repeat until enemies are all dead.

Against the Tantalus! I fit myself in a Valk with Banshees, and got everyone to attack the destroyer. I ran between the Bastion and the Tantalus and took down all the Basilisks and Nephilim that emerged. They are slow, but pack a punch - try and stay in between the two destroyers, because the enemy fighter and bomber wings emerge from both fighterbays, making it very difficult to cover them while close to the Demon. Conversely, if you stay too close to the Bastion, the fighters will get too close, and launch their volleys of Hornets and Unknown Megabombs. Ouch.

Actually I ordered every wingmen to protect the Bastion and I flied with an Ursa with helioses.   I bombed the Tantalus to hell while wingmen were shooting down shivan bombers and bombs.

I beat the game earlier this morning, the Bastion made it out of the fray with only 8% life left(and the Tant only had 14). I found myself throwing my Herc in front of those Megabombs(Imma guessing they are the grey line in between Tsunamis and Harbingers), and when I mean throwing in front..I was literally colliding with the suckers  

Beating the Lucifer was easy, however.....didn't feel as desperate of as fight as protecting the Bastion was.

I kept losing the Bastion the first few times, then I squeaked through somehow. One time, I put all my pilots in bombers and attacked the Tantalus... it blew up right next to the Bastion, and of course, the Bastion blew up too.

Thats my demo mission for my campaign![/pimp] except you fly as a shivan hahaha(of course I had to make it a bit harder).  Its for FreeSpace2 though... so heh... http://www.hiddenterror.f2s.com

By the way... I just set up a UBB there...free one so its got some limitations(d'oh!)

Do you mean Harbingers?
